Winscreen replacement under insurance

Hi all
i have a crack in my windscreen from a stone strike and need the windscreen replaced in my GTS. I'm insured through Porsche Marsh and my question ;
i want the windscreen replaced by my Porsche main delete with original porsche screen as car has only ever been with them , not by auto glass or other. What experience/ success have members had of insisting on this if Marsh insist on non Porsche replacement ?
- as a side note recently had the windscreen replaced on my Volvo ( first replacement in many years) by auto glass type company through insurance they did a good job but the non std windscreen mists up at corners despite heated windscreen - I can live with this on the Volvo as its minimal/ marginal but if it was the Porsche I would be now chasing a replacement and don't want that hassle .
thanks

Hi Tony

I had my windscreen on my 997 replaced by the OPC. The replacement screen was a genuine Porsche Glass supplied by the OPC but the work was carried out at my home by Autoglass. The fitter was a an approved Porsche specialist organised by the OPC and covered under my insurance with Locktons. No problems ensued.

I can't help you specifically with the Marsh policy, but I had the same concerns as you when I had my previous windscreen replaced. It had to be Porsche glass and by a competent person.

I used www.glasstecpaul.com and he did an outstanding job. A lot of the Porsche owners on Pistonheads use him and I've never heard anything but good things about him.

My insurer's paid and I just paid the excess.

Hi Tony,

I am no longer with Marsh but when I was I got the OPC's windscreen company details, had them check that I would only pay an excess per the policy, and arranged new screen fitting myself, paying the excess directly to the fitter. Always have OEM screen fitted, sometimes a few days delay v non-OEM. I continue to take this approach with subsequent insurers.

You might try that approach and see if your OPC's windscreen company can confirm you would only pay an excess per policy.

Best wishes,

Ralph

Thanks all for prompt replies very helpful , will update when resolved - and apologies for my spelling in original post - done on my phone without my glasses !

Pleased to report that Porsche insurance have come up with the goods in one short phone call - offered me either a)Nationwide glass with OEM windscreen or b) my choice installer then pay and they will refund - same excess either way
chose b) to go through my OPC official repairer who I know of and trust so did not get the problem I was perhaps anticipating
phew!
