Winter BBQ - Saturday 29 November

Well I couldn't find the time to organise the annual Fireworks and BBQ on Guy Fawkes Night.............so now I've organised a Winter BBQ and Fireworks for the end of the month [:)][8D] !!

Robert (sorry, forget his surname[8|]) from Manor Farm, Hanslope has kindly offered us the use of part of his large grain barn to host the bbq so that we can shelter from the weather.

We are planning this late social event so that you can start the run-up to Christmas/New Year in a happy state of mind. Saturday, 29 November is the date - late enough to allow you to do your shopping first !

The farm is near Hanslope, on the right hand side of the road that runs past Hanslope Park if you're driving towards Castlethorpe/Haversham. This is North West of MK for those not familiar with it. (Type "Hanslope Park" into http://streetmap.co.uk for a local map).

I am bringing along commercial sized gas bbq that a friend has kindly loan us, and have the free run of the field adjacent to the barns for fireworks if you bring some. Apologies in advance - the barn might get a little smokey with food being barbecued [8|] (May have to leave the doors open.......)

If you can make it, please bring food (to cook); plates, cutlery, etc; some seating; warm clothing (and suitable footwear) and if possible one[/b] large [:)] firework left over from bonfire night.

This is a intended to be a family friendly event "" friends and neighbours are also welcome. (But please bear in mind this is a working farm, with the usual machinery and other hazards around, so please ensure you take responsibility for any offspring you bring along !)

We will aim to light the bbq around 5.00/5.30pm, and the fireworks around 6.30pm, so don't be late.

It's just over a week to go and the good news is that I've had a number of confirmed attendee (although, understandably, depending on the weather) and a few other expressions of interest for our region's Winter BBQ.

However, like all social events - "the more, the merrier" [:)][:)][8D]. A few more visitors - old and new - would be very welcome. Perhaps you're planning on coming but haven't said yet? If so, please let me know.

It does appear that many of you in R10 may be a little 'unadventurous' - yes, I know it's mid winter, and we should be safely tucked-up indoors (along with the Porsche), but think of this a talking-point for you at your Christmas dinner or New Year party. (......And there's no point in wasting the evening doing the Xmas shopping: wait until the retailer's put their decent (desperate?) sales on nearer the Big Day [8|].) You know it makes sense....[:D]

Hope to see as many of you as possible at Manor Farm - as long as the weathermen don't cover the area in deep snow or driving rain!

Cheers....

Weather forecast is a bit hard to read at the minute - some predict rain all day [], others rain only in the morning [:)]. Hopefully they will become more consistent by Friday [8|] so we can sort out the bbq !

Thanks for the replies. Hope to see you there.

Keep smiling......
