Winter Projects

Hi all,
Now the long dark nights are drawing in, I wondered what projects everyone is intending to initiate this winter.
Myself I intend to give mine a cosmetic going over as I have only purchased it in March this year and spent all my time having fun in it.

My list.
Replace cracked dashboard - haven't sourced one yet.
Valet Interior
Paint callipers and Disc hubs
Lower springs
17" cups to be reconditioned as they are pretty scuffed.
Fit a Tial DPW - Might invest in a boost enhancer too.
New Dump valve
Respray side mirrors
Possible new rear hatch as chipped

It will be interesting to see how far I get as I have yet to decorate the nursery for our new arrival in February.

I must be odd [&:]as I tend to do all my projects during the warmer months of spring and summer [:)]

One thing, if you install a DPW (TiAL or Lindsey) you don't need a boost enhancer, but control the boost with a manual boost controller (MBC)

As Paul says there is no need for a boost enhancer with a TiAL wastegate.

If you need a new hatch, find me a lightweight one and I'll have a deal with you on a bridge spoiler one in good condition if you like.

My winter project will hopefully be to run in a very tight and very stiffly suspended Turbo with "comfortably over 300bhp" and 265/35 rear tyres.. That should be exciting on slippery roads [8D]

Not a lot planned for the 944 apart from tidying up the paintwork, especially around the front as it's well stone chipped but...

I are mostly trying to turn this back into this

Where to start.

Fix ignition / "stuttering" problem

EBC Redstuff front pads
Greenstuff rears

New disks

Caliper recon (if necessary)

Refurb wheels

Strip all wax off car, touch-up where required

Seats re condition (if funds allow)

Try and sort a few rattles in the center console

Clean engine bay /de-grease

Check for leaks in Tial

New coutesy light switch drivers door

Wax it till i run out of wax!!!!!

My winter project includes :
- Replacing the torque tube with the good one I brought back from Germany
- Replacing the torque tube bearings in the original tube []
- Replacing motor mounts [:-]
- Replacing sump gasket, and while there checking rod bearings [&o]
- Expecting the gearbox to be diagnosed with some pinion/bearings issue(s) - €€€€ [X(]
- Dismantling the whole bloody thing back again, having the gearbox fixed, fitting back the original torque tube with renewed bearings
- Selling a kidney
- Hoping that everything will be fine now for the next 100,000 miles

Sounds good, eh ? [:)]

I noticed that Lindsey Racing have one in their parts list

But I would imagine shipping that could be very expensive.

Wizad,
If your resparying your mirrors, i'll mail you my DIY photos, i did them two weeks ago. Also removal instructions.
Let me know.

OOOh, did someone mention freshly resprayed mirrors [8|]

Imagine getting your ugly mug airbrushed onto the back of your mirrors.... now that's arrogance [:D]

It is also quite disturbing [:D]

My winter jobs are just a continuation of my summer jobs that didn't get done. BKE doesn't like being left doing nothing so, all well and good, he will continue to be used.

I agree with Fen, jobs in the cold and damp, with limitted available light, are no fun at all so I can see a number of tasks being sub-contracted.

List includes:-

Replace remaining old wheel bearings
Fit s/steel brake hoses and change fluid
New antifreeze
Fit splitter - if it ever comes back from the sprayers
Fit SFR MAP induction - if it ever arrives
Form MAP trap
Fit new expansion tank
Have ferrule fitted in exhaust and fit lambda
Repair air con
Sort out seats
Re-spray
Perforated headlamp cover
Brake cooling ducting
Resite shift light into instrument binacle

Might not help but its quick and simple to check, is the vacuum line still attached under the throttle body?
