Winter tyres - smelling rather warm...

I have winter SottoZero 240s fitted to my 997.2TT: I have noticed a hot rubber smell each time i drive - so much so it pervades the cabin after a run.

It's the sort of smell you'd get years ago with a dodgy rubber silencer mount or similar, which clearly I haven't got.

On looking around the car, each wheel (tyre specifically) does indeed smell of hot rubber - anyone else noticed this?
 
I think with ambient temperatures as high as they are, you'd expect that. I believe they're really only for below 7C. Maybe we'll have a late winter - we'd better get some rain or no one will be washing their cars in 2012.

Can send you some from down here...............[:(] Agree about tyres though - probably too warm for winter ones!
 
fitted my new sottozeros end of october ready for the harsh winter([;)]).

they definately smell of track day type rubber after any decent run,last weeks prexmas shopping break in bath the temp was average 15deg c!!.dont feel ive really tested their performance to date!!
