Winter use

Just wondering how many of you keep your cars hibernated during winter?

I've used mine today, but its the first time since early December. I've been trying to keep it out of the salt and rain, but I know that just leaving it in the garage without use may well be doing it more harm than good.

What do you think?

I allways try to use my Porsche at least once a fortnight in the winter.Pick a nice bright dry day with no salt on the roads, and take the car for a long run.I think you do more harm by not using the car for a few months.Good excuse to use the car in anycase!
Andrew.

Use it or lose it is my motto.

If it gets dirty clean it. If the gritters are out then hose down the arches and underside

I confess to being a woos. Only because I'm terrified of tin rot and have access to a jelopy Volvo. The car usually has at least one trip a week out though, in the dry. Wait til March though and it will never be in the garage!

It's my only car, so daily driver ... rain, shine, gritter lorry, ice, snow, you name it.

(Grit from the gritter lorry is not good, I'll admit, but I do have armourfend on the front which helps a little. Having said that I hit a pigeon yesterday and that made a RIGHT mess! OK, I was aiming for it 'cos I hate the buggers, but it has left feathers, bird poo and unidentified gloop all over the bumper! I'd probably trade that for a stone chip or two ... )

I'm with you Oli (um "¦ on the daily driver thing, not the pigeon splatter). As Paul said: If it gets dirty, clean it. I live in Scotland. If I waited for good weather I would never get to drive the damned thing.

Like to take mine out at least once a week during the winter. Don't mind rain and wet but not too keen on salted roads or icy as it gets a little tail happy at times. Bought it to enjoy it and it definitely seems to go better the more you use it.

Mine's my daily driver too. I think winter use is better than leaving a damp car in a garage for days on end.

havent had mine long but has done 28 miles since last sept not such a good thing will start heer every week but garaged with cover untill weather breaks

Paul

Till all the salt has gone mine are tucked up on charge, looking forward to spring and a dose of booost[:D]!(bet i can't wait that long)

In the winter i take for a spin every now and then if its dry but only because i cant be assed to wash it... always start it twice aweek and move it to ensure the brakes dont stick, i also make sure theres no moisture in the car by running the heaters for a while but sad to say i wont re tax it until april, have used it in the snow a couple of times in germany and that was very intresting... [:)]

I have sinned..... Mine hasnt been out of the garage since October....[] Going to get her out again this year for sure ... I am getting married in June and I am clinging to her (the 944 ..!) by the fingernails [:D]
