I am going to give my car a good "going over" this winter and fancied putting it up on axle stands.

On torsion bar cars this is easy as the tubes are a great place to put the stands!

Any ideas on where to put the stands on an RS not least because the jacking points seem the only place and they will be used by the jack!

Depends on what jack you have, but if you have good trolley jack then you can get the jack in to the rear suspension subframe and jack it from there, then use the normal jacking points for the axle stands. Or you can do this the other way and put the axle stands under the suspension subframe. There is a machined flat surface under the subframe in an area that is suitable for doing this.
