wiper arms

just ordered new wiper arms which have now arrived. These are bigger than the ones on the car and have double springs. Have they sent me the wrong ones or are these the only ones now available.?
Double springs seem a good idea as the single spring jobs do lift at speed.

I had the same when I replaced mine about 4 years ago. Noting that they were different I asked the obvious question and was told that they had been superceded by the 964 items, with stronger springs etc.

Yep - I have the double spring ones now and they work fine, only issue I have is that the drivers side wiper top edge now overhangs the curvature of the screen at rest and then misses a little bit at the top of the wipe stroke.

I asked the old boy at the garage where I have the car MOT'd if this was a problem and said not. So I don't worry about it.

I repainted mine (and my wheel centres at the same time) using etch primer a satin black spray. I'm very pleased with the reults.

Hi Chris,
got them from Europorscha/Design 911.
I have put them on and they do look odd to me so I may go the lesworth route.

just looking at some old post, i dont logg on that much anymore, and noticed that you say your drivers side hangs over, weid, i looked at mine last night in the garage and seen that and a little biut of bending does it the world of good,

Cheers Bones. Thought I might have to go down one of those routes. Off to Douglas valley then.

I fitted 964 arms to my 3.2 a few years ago, firstly because the original arms were NLA and second, because they're just better. I've just taken one off my car and there is a spline on the arm, but it looks like the component could be soft metal, with the spline being formed when the arm is tightened down.
I've never had an issue with mine.
Hope that helps.

Chris has it spot on, soft pot metal will form its own splines when you tighten the nut up. Wider nut covers required too!
