Wiper blades & Tyre Pressures

Two questions for all you experts out there.

1) Wiper Blades - I need to replace both of the them and so far I have found that the passenger side has a curved one.

Can anyone tell me their experience of aero wipers on their 996?

If you do not think I should go for aero style, where can i get normal wipers and rough cost please?

2) Tyre pressures. I need to know what tyre pressures to keep mine at.

front - 225/40/18
rear - 285/30/18

Thanks

The passenger side is curved. They are both 22 inches long. PIAA silicone wipers are great. They last a really long time and the water beads away very quickly once you've used them a bit and a thin layer of silicone is deposited. No experience with flat blade wipers on my 996 but they don't seem to last any longer on my other cars with them. Only difference as far as I can see is that they cost about twice the price and look quite good.
36 psi for the front and 44 psi for the rear. Some people play around with the pressures a bit but I've stuck to the standard ones for long tyre life and grip balance.

If you ever forget the tyre pressures, i think it says under the bonnet and possibly on the door sills as well. Ive got the normal bosch wipers fitted as of last month as my old ones where in worse condition than the rear! The cost of the set is around ÂŁ23, the previous set i had on must have been extra cheap as they didn't have the little spoiler on the drivers side to stop splash back, why somebody would buy a 911 then skimp on something as trivial as a ÂŁ23 pair of wiper blades is beyond me[:D].

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your advice.

I like the sound of the PIAA and I know people rate them highly. Where can I get a set from?

Also in response to Chris - I looked at the inside the drivers door and it only had the VIN number and under the bonnet just had the white sticker.

I took the car to a friends garage to get the wheels balanced and tracked and was told that I should put 32 in front and 39 in the back, but judging by Minny's figures, that advice was bad..

Anyone else use different tyre pressures?

I'm Bridgestone Potenzas at the moment. Had them on my Honda S2000 and they were great, but very soft.

Do you guys recommend any other makes for tyres?

Thanks

Bosch ones are half the price they are advertised in Halfords if you have a trade card. speeding.co.uk or camskill.co.uk sell PIAA ones.
On the '99 Carrera I had the tyre pressure chart was under the bonnet (or is it the boot, well the front) lid and on the turbo its inside the fuel filler flap.

Thanks Minny,

Its strange, because I never bothered about being so fussy about tyre pressures until I got this car [8|]

Yea thats the model i have. Im guessing on later years they moved the sticker. At the very least it should say in the manual.

From my posting of 11th Feb, 2011 in thread called "Replacement Wipers?"....

You need 22"; straight for drivers side and rear, curved for passenger side.

Straight: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m52b0s4375p56762

Curved: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m52b0s4375p56754

HTH.

ETA: There is also a version of the straight one with a spoiler for a few pounds more, but not the curved one.

That's great common sense.......Putting the tyre pressures inside the fuel cap.

Found them there when I went to fill up yesterday.

No... by definition, the bonnet of a 911 is at the rear...
