wiper motor contact plate query

Hello

I have noted elsewhere on the forum that i have front wiper problems.
The original problem was the failure of slow wipe speed, intermittent and wash/wipe.

I have taken the motor/housing apart for a clean and reassembled to find that I now have the following:

Slow speed
The first fast speed
No fast third speed
Intermittent Starts - but does not stop
Wash /wipe function activates the slow wipe - but again its doesn't stop and the washer pump is not activated.

So - in my reassembly - is there a correct orientation for the contact plate (which has the spindle that drives the wiper arms) on which the wiper motor contacts press?

Thanks

Are you sure your switch stalk is OK? They do fail and are relatively cheap to replace. It could be an issue with the stalk switch.

Thanks for the reply - I have swapped in a spare with the exact same symptoms - but they could both be faulty...?
The washer failure sounds like a switch contact failure - especially with the intermittent relay activating - but I'm confused as to why the intermittent simply continues....[8|]

The internal stalk switch could stay in contact. I needed to replace my indicator switch and the symptoms were that either the indiators wouldn't stay on so I had to hold the stalk in position while steering and trying to change gear with the other hand, or the indicators would stay on even after i'd turned the corner. This clearly was a problem with the cancelling mechanism rather than the actual switch, but you never know. Should be easy to test with a multi-meter.
