Wiper parking...

I have a 1990 LHD Carrera 4 and recently read an article where someone altered the parking position of the front wipers so that they parked on the passenger side rather than in front of the driver. My question... how easy would that be to do. New bits?

Thanks!

It's not hard Colin, but it will take a little time you have to get in the trunk and remove the pieces that prevent access to under the dash , once removed you should see the motor, it is capable of parking the wipers on both sides of the screen. You just need to disconnect the device the comes from the motor to the wipers, swap the arms over and park them as you want, you'll also have to 'modify' one arm. I want to do this as I sit low in my seats but someone complicated the job for me by riveting the dash access pieces in place instead of replacing with bolts! Look here.

I wondered about doing this also. I know that the wipers park in front of the driver regardless of steering wheel side and I always thought that was odd so I'd rather mine were out of the way. It might also stop that annoying flick of water that the passeger side arm always throws across the driver's field of vision when the wipers are parking after washing the screen. []
