Wiper parking

What is the correct/standard parking side for windscreen wipers? I have seen them parked both sides. I have a lefthooker and mine park on the left. Is it possible to change sides and how is it done? Tax disks, most people put their tax disk on the nearside part of the screen, but I put mine on the offside as the nearside obstructs my vision, am I risking prosecution?[:-]

The correct position for wipers to sit is the drivers side, that is on the left on a left hooker. There is a fix to get them sitting on the other side but imho they don't look right as they sit too high - you can find it on the P-car site http://p-car.com/diy/wiper/. You could always fit the motor and arm mechanism from a rhd I suppose but that's maybe a bit extreme. Mine sit fine in my left hooker and don't get in the way, yours don't just need a bit of fettling on the spindle? I believe that the tax disc should sit on the left (so traffic wardens can see it easily without getting banjoed by passing cars I've always presumed). Again I don't really have an issue with mine as I seldom if ever need to look out of the lower left hand corner of the 'screen.

Easy enough to flip them over if you dont mind not having the intermitent wiper function. If you dont use it in the rain alot (I dont) just remove the relay and swap the blades over, slight tweaking on the spindles and they fit nice and low on the passenger side. If you want the intermitent function you need to follow the P car route which is a real PITA

Sure, if you use your car in the rain then leave them where they are, the rain clears much better that way. If however your car is a fine weather car then flipping the arms over gives a much better view from the drivers seat!
