Wipers stuck on intermittent - help please!

Good Afternoon ,

Could anyone help - just back from an MOT which the '89 3.2 Supersport passed with no probs, but when tester checked the wipers they wouldn't STOP wiping from the intermittent position.
So in other words, using the stalk, the wipers will go fast, normal speed, intermittent and OFF, but a couple of seconds after you switch off and they park, they start up again in the intermittent mode.
Sounds like a stuck relay or something, but I can't find one - only a fuse which disables all wiper functions.
Hoping to go to Goodwood this weekend, so any help much appreciated!

No Panic. On the dashboard, between your speedometer and clock, there is a little rotating knob or reostat. That switches the intermittent function on (several speeds depending on you using that reostat) or off. it is to be found near the top of the speedo.

Try that first- my guess is that it is switched on.

If that fails... well, you might just have to buy a 991.[;)]

Best regards,

Bert

Check this thread, it might help...

Is there an intermittent on the stalk?

I have always just used the twisty dial to do intermittent with nothing on the stalk?

BERT : absolutely spot on, thanks for saving me from making an even bigger a**e of myself at the OPC ! Shows how often I drive it in the rain.

RS GULP : greatly appreciate the link , glad I didn't need it, though !

SUPERSPORT : completely true, no intermittent on the stalk - I confused it with the washer, sorry.

Many thanks, Gents - quick response and (non - existent) problem solved.

Regards,

Excellent.

Nothing worse than asking a silly question at he dealers. Would be impressed if the OPC knew though.
