Wiring

Is there a wire sticking out of the loom behind the stereo that is live when the lights are on? If so what colour is it? My new boost guage has a completely black face until the ignition is on when it lights up, but it has a connection that dims the brightness when the cars lights are on so it is not too bright.

Cheers.

I don't think so - I haven't looked hard but I have never found one. If anyone knows different I'd like to use it to dim my stereo display though.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]As it is I tapped into the light wire for the central locking switch in my cab, which is the only one that lights up. I no longer have any wiring at all for that switch in the Turbo though.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

there *is* a wire which comes from that area to the ashtray light. It's not in the same loom as the radio, but should be accessible enough to tap into. I wouldn't like to think how wuch current it can handle, but it's surely enough for a radio illumination.

I ran mine off the little globe behind the little symbol in the middle of the middle air vent above the stereo. You can run a wire down behind there quite easily straight into the back of the stereo. Works fine on mine.

Cheers, will have a look. It's only a signal wire so I doubt it needs much current at all as the main power comes from a seperate +ve and earth wire.
