On Sunday the 17th of May 2009 Wiscombe Park at Honiton in Devon is to host a round of the PCGB Speed Club Championship on their famous hillclimb circuit. There should be a varied field, including a number of Porsches competing.

Region 15 will again be organising a visit for those interested, which will include access to the event plus the ability to drive down the hill and park in a special area in the paddock for a picnic, then driving the hill again later in the afternoon when you leave.

The cost is £6.00 per person with children under 14 free. If you are interested in attending please contact either Andy or myself, and we will be happy to provide you with more information. There is no need to pay in advance, but we do need to know numbers as soon as possible.

Should be a good day out, don't miss it !!

Tony, may not be able to make the meeting tomorrow so can you tell me if the parking is on grass or not?! Looks like we're in for a bit of rain (

I suspect the parking will be on grass.

I don't know exactly where on the site the parking will be yet, but I will be going down early on the Sunday in the 993 with the Porsche bunting to mark our parking area off. And since I will be in the 993 it will have to be somewhere that is easy to get in and out of (mines a C4S so it is sitting a little lower than standard, though admittedly not by much).

I certainly don't want to be 'off-roading' in mine...

Yes quite, Alex. If the ground/grass is firm no probs but could get a bit boggy if we get a lot of rain Thurs/Fri?

All I can suggest is that if I have a signal on the iPhone I'll post a message on this thread when I have done a quick 'site survey' to let you and others know what it is like before you head over...

I am optimistic that it will be OK, if it isn't I will be more upset than anyone - I was meant to be racing the 924 this weekend and can't because due to work/financial commitments I could not start the prep on the 924 on time and as a result I am waiting for the rollcage to be built, without which I will fail scrutineering miserably...
...if I get stuck or mega muddy in the 993 as well I am going to be really miffed (now there's an understatement).

Thanks Alex, sounds like a plan. But crikey, what time will you be getting there? I'll be leaving around 9 to get to the meeting point for 10. At least you've got 4WD!

Ah OK my mistake...

...For some reason I thought everyone was meeting at 12 not 10!

I guess my plan above is a non-starter!

Oops - lucky we had this exchange then! Their website says
Further to the introduction for the 2008 season of a plastic matrix where the main paddock exits onto the tarmac road of the main paddock recent work has seen this facility extended across the bottom of the main paddock to ease the difficulties drivers have experienced in muddy conditions.

hi tony,i have only just recently joined pcgb,i live in culmstock only a stones throw from honiton and hopefully will be going to wiscombe.....as long as the weather holds, don't want to get stuck in any mud as my sc is very low!,but if all is good with the weather i shall be there,.......hope to meet some of you guys and get to know a few local porsche people......all the best.........andy miles

Hi Andy and welcome. Meeting place is at The Hare and Hounds pub which is on the A375, Honiton to Sidmouth road at 10am for a 1030 dep. Hope to see you there

Hi Andy. See you there hopefully.

The weather will be fine, don't know what all you whimps are going on about !!!!

I know I know, it defeats the object but Metcheck says rain and its currently lashing down in Torquay and as I dont drive the 928 in the rain we will be in the Evo IV!

OK, so perhaps I should not become a weather forecaster !! Still, a good day was had by all I am sure

Keep smiling, the weather can only get better for the next event.

Ah, Tony (Michael Fish ) Noon I think you are right, keep off the forecasting! Still, at least it dried up in the afternoon. Link below for a slideshow of some of the cars at Wiscombe today.

Sorry we didn't get to meet, cap'n! Hope you didn't get tooooooooooo badly soaked through the day[8|]
Still, disproved the theory about 4wd being the thing to have in difficult conditions![8D]

Cheers!
