Wishbone and more....

New member
hi guys, new member here from Dublin - over *redirected* from Boxa.net....

I'm going to put this same post in a couple of different places and hopefully I'll get some good advice!

I'm looking for wishbones for my 99 986 boxster - needs front and rear replaced and some 'stabiliser' or links - mechanic is Polish! :)

anyhow, ive priced them with Belgard in Dublin - and surprise, surprise they're extortionate.

Just wondering, what's the best place up north - or online, to order these cheaper than Dublin porsche??

Any and all assistance greatly appreciated!

hope to keep her for a good few years more, and be on here too.

Ciarán.

I mgot a front wishbone for my 996C4 from porscheshop - www.porscheshop.co.uk but by the time you pay shipping etc, you may not save all that much..

I tend to price parts at Belgard and the UK and order based on urgency, cost and shipping costs...

thanks for that... I have that site ready for viewing tomorrow.

did you save much? I need to buy four - so I suppose even a smallish saving (x4) will make it worthwhile...

To be honest, I dont think I really saved anything...

A friend of mine was fitting them, so he ordered the parts for me....

You can get refurbished ones from Hartech in the UK. Last time I looked it was a lot cheaper than new, but I'm not sure how it would work out by the time you get the refurbished one sent to you and send the old one back to them.

Ciaran, try Agnews up in Belfast. I'm in Dublin and found them very helpful and knowledgeable whenever I call. Prices are different too !

Jonathan Fitzsimmins is the guy who I have dealt with in the past.

Is your mechanic in Dublin and have you used him for long? I ask as I need a couple of small jobs done. Drop me a PM if you wish.

Mike, I have put in a call to them but I am getting a friend - of a friend, who I wasn't aware of (that works in Belgard!) to look under the car tomorrow and, hopefully, tell me I need less work done than I was originally told. He thinks that it's highly unlikely I'll need the amount of work done that i was told.

In saying that, the mechanic I've used - and my father also used him when he had a porsche a cpl years ago, has always been spot on so I'm a little confused. he has a youngish polish guy, who seems to really know his stuff, tell him the diagnosis, so perhaps he's right - and the friend (of a friend) will be surprised, or else there's been a mix up.

When I get the new diagnosis tomorrow, I'll call my mechanic and deal with it from there..

I'll pm you who they are - reasonably priced, do the job fairly quickly and are happy to let you buy the parts and drop them off...

C.

p.s. thanks for the replies above lads.
