Wishbone bushes

I shall shortly be getting my front & rear wishbones repaired/replaced. One option for this is to have "9xx" bushes fitted on my wishbones by JMG, an independent in Dorset.
I understand that these bushes give better handling, and better service life. Has anyone experience of this option, or of JMG? Does the ride get much firmer - which is not particularly attractive to me.

Richard,

Last year my front suspension was squeaking loudly and I had "Powerflex" bushes (see http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/Boxster+%281997-2004%29-425/1.html) fitted to all of the front suspension elements of my 85,000 mi 2000 MY 986 Boxster S. The alternative of replacing the wishbones would have cost more than twice as much.

The squeaking has stopped and the car handles perfectly.

Jerry,

Which garage changed your bushes & approx. how much did it cost?

I did the same thing on my GT3 MkI --- fitted Powerflex Lower control arm bushes all round.

I should say they are a little more direct (not a problem with a GT3), and I'm told that polyurethane bushes will now last the life of the car.

So, unless I break something, it a comprehensive fix to a known wear issue.

Sen,

My local independent, Westland Autos (Gainfield, nr Swindon) repaced all the front suspension buses with Powerflex at 4.5 hrs labour (£47.50 per hr + VAT) and parts were £120 + VAT, total £392.00.

They told me it was a bitch of a job. Don't try it yourself.
