witch oil in the gearbox?

hi , I was wondering if anyone could help me with some info concerning the quality of oil for a geabox ? the car is a C4 and 2sd gear is a bit notchy going up or down so I dicided to change the oil I' ve been recomended to put fully synthetic but I red as well that it could make it worst and noisy.

When JZ Machtech last serviced my gearbox and diffs they used Castrol Syntrax Universal which is, apparently, a part synthetic multigrade gearbox oil. It's used for both the gearbox and the front diff and I did notice that the gearbox was shifting much smoother after the change.

I've seen other recommendations for Swepco (from Bert Gear) and the Royal Purple products (from ProMax) but have no experience of either I'm afraid.
