Wobbly Mirrors

There is a "Tech Tip" on wobbly mirror glass, but both my door mirrors' frames are wobbly!

Can I tighten from inside the mirror? (by removing glass as detailed in other posts), or do I need to remove inside door panel and get that them from that side?

Not sure what the woman (sorry "Lady") who owned my car for its first 6 years did, but several of the OPC bills during her ownership have "spray to correct colour and fit new door mirrors" - sometimes 2 on one bill[&:]

This is easier than you think--the mirrors are held to the door frame with hex bolts-normally you can see these on the window side of the mirror plinth--they are supposed to be covered by a rubber seal but most of these will have perished--it sounds like these are loose---if the rubber is perished you may need to apply some WD40 and let sit for a while then tighten them up.

Hope this works

Steve,
By "window side" do you mean just looking down, from above above the mirror?
I'll take a look tonight (car not at office today) and maybe it will be obvious.

Thanks

Maybe the previous "˜Lady' owner of your car thought the only way to properly adjust the mirrors was to drive through a gap narrower than the mirrors' width![&:][8|] ...or she parked the car regularly on a narrow London street...

Good luck with them.

Had the same problem on my 964 and was fretting about how to get to the hex bolt until I realised that it was straightforward with the door open. Sorry if this is obvious but it might save you some time.
