Hi all,
Its 1:35 and i am now back home. Long story cut short.
Been picked up, (Recovery) as smoke has been coming out of the exhaust from about 2500 revs, noticed it on way home. Became that bad and it felt like there was some hesitation within the engine not getting enough power. MY03 Boxster S with 93k on the clock. Thought it was black smoke but was in fact white/blue. Its worst than normal and has concerned me greatly. Ill be calling up a few places tomorrow but would love some thoughts about what it might be? Shall keep you updated.

Hi

Sounds nasty.. you say you are a new owner, how long have you had the car?
Any fluid leakages under the car, or oil in the coolant header tank?

The good news was it was still running under its own steam when you got it recovered - I think most terminal failures leave an immobile car. Fingers crossed for you [&:]

The garage i bought it from have messed me about with regrads the independant warrenty, but i have told them that it needs to be an OPC or independent specialist that looks at it.
Someone is getting back to me apparently but i am concened and obviously dont want it sitting too long, looks like tomorrow i shall hopefully be able to get it taken for a look on a low loader.
I reversed it up my drive first time ever, and carnt help but feel this may have something to do with it as it is a fairly steep slope.
Any ideas????
Prize for the first person that tells me its all right!!!

 
Hi Steve, the feelings you are going thru are awful, i know, been there....[8|]

I had an S for three years, and reversed it out of my steep drive most days throughout that time, so I cant see that having caused the problem. Were there any warning signals before the smoke started????

Simple fix and the most likely candidate.... initial guess would be AOS ?

any ideas for weather to take it to and OPC as have full sevice History so far, or to an independent???
any ideas on cost too??
once its all done i shall come back with the prize, thats pending if that what it is!!

Just IMHO but the fact that your car needs some attention despite having a FPSH illustrates how meaningless such a history is. [;)]

I would take it to your nearest reputable indy. I don't know the cost but whatever they charge it will be at least half an OPC charge.

AOS! Although they did have me thinking that it may have been a gasket, only had one sleeples night!!
Good news is, she is back with me and thats the main thing!!!

Can I ask if you took it to an OPC or to an indy, and how much did the repair cost you?

Steve,

I'm preety sure its the unit that allows the fuel and air to mix that is the cause of your problem, have had some experience of this and your symptoms sound spot on.

If I were you I'd take it to a mate of mind who can sort this reletivly cheaply and certainly better than 8K !!!!!!

Help! I thought this happend in the cylinder - valves open let in air and squirt of fuel, valves close, compress it all, then a spark and bang! Does this refer to a control "unit"?
 
Hi,

Took it to an Indi, and was fixed in a fairly quick time.

Havent had th invoice through yet, as tried fighting the warrenty people.

Have been told that its going to cost a couple of hundred. Still thats after i treated them to a case of the wife beater that is!!

Shall keep you updated on final costing!! Feel free to cjip in if you want!! [:D]
 
all sorted and paid for now!
Total including VAT £144.49, quite impressed!
The worry was priceless though, but for everything else theres Mastercard!!!
