Worried New Parent!

I've just joined the club, and picked up my used 2004 Carrera 2 from the Dealer last Saturday. Terrified by engine failure stories on this forum and others, I've noticed about a tablespoonful of creamy sludge at the top of the oil filler pipe.

The car has done 6000 miles and I'm wondering if I should be concerned, or if this is normal.

Thanks very much, great reply. I searched for sludge not mayonnaise!

This really is a great forum, and I can go to bed happy. Now all I have to do is learn to drive the thing properly! ( I've discovered that I involuntarily stop breathing when I accelerate... Far too much excitement)
