I drove the car today was fine up untill few miles from home, the car is an auto btw. I notice that at lights as i pulled away and drove. a strange noise/vibration coming from the rear, similar to driving on a flat tyre noise. I got a funny idea that it has something to do with the transmission/diff - (hope i wrong). When im drove and put into neutral i heared the same sound -clunky/virations. So prob not the a gear problem. Do anyone have some ideas???

It sounds a bit like a problem I had with my car when I first bought it. The noise occurred once per revolution of the rear wheels.
I took it to Hartech in Bolton and one of the guys there did a quick test drive for me, swerving sharply from side to side helped him to correctly diagnose it as a faulty wheel bearing - don't know how!
Anyway, he said it could have been 1 of 3 things:
  1. The bearing - cheapest option and thankfully the actual fault
  2. The differential - £300-400 to fix
  3. The gearbox - £800-1000 to fix
Lets hope its option 1 for you....
