Wots happening in the north

Hi, I have recently started working in Inverness and wondered if there any club nights/meets in this area. At the moment my car is safely locked in its garage in the east midlands but I am tempted to bring it up here once the weather picks up.

A couple of weeks back I drove up here for a long weekend. 1200 miles round trip, up via Glasgow, over to Fort William and back via Edinburgh. I can't recall seeing another Porsche of any type during the entire journey. Where are you all hiding?

Hi Chris,

I'm not sure if there are any meetings as far up North as Inverness. Perhaps Brain RO1 would know?

As for not seeing any Porsche's up North and where are we all hiding? I can't answer that one. I'm in mine every time the sun is shining......hmm maybe that's the answer! Saying that, I had mine out today, with the hood down, and the heater on "hi" and the heated seat on.

I drive mine just about every day. Mostly around the west end and into the city centre. Barely see any other older Porsches (virtually no 911s) out and about.

Dear Member I suggest you contact the north RO Hamish Fergus tel 01358 742334 to see what is on in your area ,also read PP it tells you events that are on . As for region I there are a lot of cars around and has a good member base with regular events and club meetings .You are in Scotland now rember its not as populated as Lincoln so porsches are thin on the ground but they are out there honest I hope you enjoy the Scottish hospitality and use your car on our great roads ,watch out for the unmarked police cars on the A9. Cheers Brian ro1

I do see loads of Boxsters with housewife drivers and 996s about. I wave but get no response apart from the guy that stays down the street. The only older Porsche I see regularly is a white 924 that parks on Gibson Street. Is that anybody here?

We meet at the Lairhillock Inn, just south of Aberdeen on the first Thursday of every Month. Being a member for over 5No years, I went along to my first meeting last month, and duly won the t-shirt in the pub quiz!! (Albiet a tad small, er? Thanks to the Club Shop for 'stretching' it for me.)

The up and coming night on 4th March is having a Slot-car race night. (I hope!)

If you keep an eye on the Porsche Post, it gives you some info of events in the eastern Aberdeenshire area.

A lot of Porsche's in this area, many fewer members and the club participation seems a little light!!

Thanks for your warm welcome to Scotland. I'll keep an eye open in PP for events on the east coast and hopefully will get over during the summer.

Brian, thanks for the warning re the A9. News of the legendry diligence of the police on this stretch of road has already reached down to Lincolnshire. I did wonder why I did not see any cameras north of Perth. Obviously the police are reserving the best sections of roads for chasing people.
