'Weekend of the Year' for those who were not at last week's meeting !
Now provisionally booked. Details as follows -
Sat 3rd November/Sunday 4th November in the Yorkshire Dales - travel down Sat taking in the Ribble Valley and back on Sun through Grassington and over the top through Coverdale. Trying to work in a visit to Malham Cove/Tarn also.
Staying at the Coniston Hotel between Skipton and Settle (www.theconistonhotel.com) where we have reserved 15 rooms. Cost will be £183 per couple for Bed, breakfast and dinner or £138.50 for a single person. Rooms with a lake view are available (at an extra £10) or a luxury room (at an extra £50) but these will need to be confirmed by participants direct with the hotel after deposits have been paid. We will have a private room for our evening dinner.
Deposits of £25 per room are needed as quickly as possible (since the hotel cannot guarantee rooms without a deposit). Can you please pay deposits to me by the next meeting (13th June) at the latest (first come first served) - or if you can confirm on this forum thread that you are coming, I will be prepared to pay the deposit on your behalf (non-returnable).
We will have a section of the hotel car park roped off for our exclusive use !

Don't miss this opportunity to join the friendliest and best weekend you will have this year !

Chris and June

Come along guys - We need commitments as soon as possible to enable some deposits to be sent off to the hotel to prove that we are serious ! - otherwise we are in danger of losing the rooms - hotel rooms are at a premium in the Yorkshire Dales at the moment. At present we only have 3 cars going ! As I said previously - just commit on this thread and in will pay your deposit prior to reimbursement at our next meeting ! Chris and June

HI Chris puppy sitter sorted for that weekend so please put me and Peter down for it Julie

Hi Chris, Can you please put Lynn and I down please, I'm looking forward to it, last year was our first and great fun. Thanks Chris & Lynn

Just bumping this thread up the list before next week's meeting. We reallt need commitments by the end of next week if this is going to go ahead as planned - at the moment we only have 6 cars going - if that is the final total we might think about doing something on a smaller scale ! Chris and June

Hi, we are new members and are interested in the WOTY weekend so if it goes ahead we like to join you. Hopefully, work permitting, we will be popping in to see you all at the BBQ next Wednesday where we are looking forward to meeting other members. We are also interested in the Beamish Museum day in September so might be able to join that too! George & Hilary

Hi George, I've sent you an email this morning re the BBQ as the venue has changed from that originally planned

Sorry to say this folks but the WOTY arrangements have had to be cancelled - Having returned from holiday to find that we only had 7 cars (13 people) for an event which had been booked on the basis of last years attendance of 15 cars, we had no option but to contact the hotel and cancel. We look upon it as a postponement - most of the hard work has been done and the Yorkshire Dales trip can be resurrected at short notice at a more appropriate time - there are some brilliant drives down there ! I consulted Ashley before posting this and I understand that the general view at this month's meeting was that the event was not viable with the support it had received. Thanks to those who signed up - we should definitely do it in the future when we can guarantee more support. Chris and June
