Would you like "non pcgb" members to be able to access the 928 and other PCGB forums ?

As I am telling various groups of Porsche owners about the new 928 section...people are trying to access it and CANNOT as not PCGB members

I am going to suggest that to the PCGB "non" PCGB members are allowed "some" type of access to encourage membership...

Please give your opinions in the poll ....
You CAN choose multiple options if you wish...
Opinions will be passed on as well if you wish to give one ...

Many thanks

Brett [:D]

For what it's worth, the reason that I joined the club was because I had decided to by a car and wanted to be able to ask questions. I would not have joined if I could have had access.

I am a moderator of a very active car forum where we allow non members to post 20 times per month. However, the majority use those posts for idle chit chat rather than asking serious questions about the cars. I have voted for "read access" only as I believe that if you have nything else, the forum will get overun with rubish which is expensive in servers and also takes a lot more moderating.

As far as I'm aware non-members CAN currently join.
The only excluded areas are "For PCGB Members only " and the "Chat Room".

Ah... But try "Register" instead... Membership number not required... [;)]

Hi Mark [:D]

YES ,but the poll is intended to allow "BROWSERS" i.e Porsche owners or others who just browse to here....and have no intention on "registering" to look at a site they are interested in...maybe I should have made that plainer in the poll [:(]

All the best Brett :)

There are non-members who use this forum to gain information and benefit from the experience of our member. They do not need to join the Club to have this help, so why should they need to bother joining. Is this fair???

Harriet

I am not a member, I am posting and can read everything. I read Bretts post over on Rennlist.com

Registration only requires an email address. Most forums don't allow posting unless you register (although I admit many allow you to read).
This forum is funded by members subscriptions - and Harriet has a valid point above. However at the moment we are effectively "open" and therefore enhancing the Porsche experience for anyone who want's to register (some may dispute this last point! [;)])
As a heads-up, the club may decide at any time to make it REAL members only - and you can't blame them if they do (as I said - the members fund it).

How about modfying your posts on other forums and saying that "registration only" is needed, rather than saying non-members can't post? It would be a better way of putting it (encouraging rather than discouraging).

Some may decide to join as a result, which would be nice [8D]

Hi Mark,

The point of the poll was for people who are not PCGB members...

e.g,,,,When I got my Porsche I went to Google and typed in.."Porsche Clubs" ....the results were....PCGB home page and Tipec...when I got here ...I was not happy that I could only browse small parts of the forum....so off I went to Tipec.... NOT good for the PCGB....:(

So I started the poll to see what options people prefer :)

As it has had over 250 hits so far...at least people ARE interested :)

All the best Brett :)

Correct me if I am wrong but is the Porsche Club a Porsche enthusiast club !!. If so then we should all share the same passion and let others that are not as fortunate as most members and do Not and will Never have the wealth to own a Porsche but still love the Porsche car with a passion.
There are allways two sides to the coin with any discussion.
Members should get disscount and privilege's and have ther own (Members Area) it's there club and they have paid for it.
But on the other hand ' I am not a member and do not own a Porsche, if I did I would join, unfortunately my dream of owning a 911 by the time Im Fourty will not happen due to my wife's illness but this does not stop' and will not stop my love and passion for the Porsche car, I have dedicated half my life to Porsche and will carry on doing so and hopfully share the same passion with Every Porsche owner and enthusiast member or non-member.

Hi Paul

You could become an Associate Member whereby you do not have to own Porsche, but can join in and enjoy our activities and it is not as expensive as full membership. Apart from actually owning a Porsche, all our members just love the marque!!

Hi Paul :)
