Had my first ride in a genuine RS at Bedford last weekend
What an eye opener.
I assumed it would be similar to my 964 C2 - how very wrong I was.
The whole car felt alive. The body felt race-car stiff, zero roll through the corners, bloody hot and noisey and stomach churning brakes.
A big thanks to Hugh for the ride.

The downside, I now must have one.
Problem is I'm pretty sure I don't have £40k in my account...

looks like your car spec is similar to mine and halfway there ,with lightweight interior, why not just upgrade the suspension and stop the body roll? my next job....but cant decide between KW, bilstein, H&R, JIC cross, or genuine cup / RS parts.......

Keith,
This would be my recommendation, get hold of the Genuine cup parts if you want a track car only (and running that stiff might not suit your sprinting either!) and make sure you get the uniball top mounts to suit the cup parts whilst your at it. The top mounts imho are responsable for a lot of the RS "feel" . Second to that any of the others matched to good uniball top mounts are fine, going away from the factory set up allows other tops mounts rather than the factory items to be used. I should point out that the cup suspension differs significantly from the RS, the former is single tube and rebuildable the latter is twin tube (at the front) and not rebuildable the cup parts use different top mounts from the RS parts too so nothing is interchangable. The kw package is an of the shelf answer (i am very happy with mine)My KW kit allowed the use of the standard RS top mounts, Another option which is more tailored is to go for the Bilstein HD shocks and match the springs and valving to your own taste, this requires a fair bit of knowledge on what works though. Try rennlist for some good suspension threads.

Keith

If I were you, I would convert to standard RS set up. It is very, very good. I agree with Laurence that the cup set up is probably too stiff for sprinting. With every car I have owned, as soon as I get it near the track, I want to play with the suspension. The RS is the only car that hasn't happened with. Even though I knew the suspension is good, I suspected that it was the first thing I would need to change but I am still uncertain what a more adjustable suspension would give me.

dont really want to hijack the thead, but have driven an RS on the road and it wasnt too harsh, had a passenger ride round some of Le mans track friday night before the race in a RS clubsport NGT more raw but still ok on road, also been in cup car on the road, harsh but awesome, no body roll at all.... my cargraphic springs are ok but am ready to replace shocks so am looking at buying a full kit...demon tweeks list a KW kit for C2 and one for RS at slightly different prices, they seem to be well proven and stainless steel would be good. having said that i suppose i should get RS anti roll bars and carnewall list a good package for 2195 euros but wonder if i will get a VAT bill when it lands here details of their ad

sure you will return the ride sometime Des, by the way just had a new slave cylinder fitted today so will be able to find the gears without crashing them next time......

Look forward to it Keith, just surprised you thought the Clubbie N-GT was ok on road, having come from a lightweight after 6 years which I could live with on road the Clubbie is certainly not...[&:] But love it even more even on road, does that sound strange....[;)]

Enjoyed your hot laps round Oulton, lovely car great set-up......[:D]

i was full of Le mans beer at the time so maybe judgement was clouded, and only jumped in to show him the way round the track and back to the campsite.....in 2003 i think...
