Guys, you may have seen this EBay seller whilst browsing, they have lots of new transaxle parts available, they are a German based seller.
Whilst I was over in Germany last week/this week I had the opportunity to call in at their premises to buy a few items and save on postage costs, plus see the items first.
They are based in Paderborn.
Anyway the building is quite unassuming on the outside but I was greeted by the owner Richard and his wife, Olga, both in there early 30's at a guess and instantly likeable, a bit like myself....but not in my 30's []
Anyway, me and my wife were invited in for a lovely cup of coffee, shown around the premises which they have recently moved into and given a bit of background both on the business and themselves, as I said a really nice couple.
I then showed Richard a few items that I'd copied to my phone and asked if it was parts they stocked, rear Spring plates, drop links, hoses , camber blocks etc, all was in stock, infact the stock room is impressive, there were racks full of new alloy wishbones, rear trailing arms , bushes, hoses, a real transaxle Aladins cave.
My order was boxed up and then my PayPal or phone decided to seize up, no problem Richard said, take the parts and pay when you get home !
As generous as that was I persevered and managed to make payment before leaving.
From this experience I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and it's good to see someone setting up a new venture based mainly around transaxle products.
Anyway we left with plenty of time to make it to Rotterdam for our overnight ferry to Hull, and then....
Just before the Dutch border the German highways decided to close the main A3 to repair a bridge, they decided as it was German holiday period the road would be quiet, they forgot about everyone else. The whole motorway network in both directions was diverted off into a small town, gridlock ensued, 5 hours to do 3 miles. By the time we had cleared it the ferry had sailed along with my upgraded cabin for our wedding anniversary.
This resulted in a 240 mile dash to Calais to catch the tunnel and a drive through night from Folkstone to Cumbria, another 380 miles, this on top of the 360 I'd already done in Germany that day.
For our whole 10 days in Germany from the Dutch border down to Berchtesgaden in the south the roads were horrendous, long delays, slow moving, closures, poor surfaces etc. Almost every journey took at least two hours more than the sat nav estimate.
I've done Germany five times now, doubt I will go over there again due to their road network.
All the best, Paul
