X50 upgrade - comments?

The standard car is up to "sorry officer" (no I don't know where Parkhurst is) speeds so quickly that in some cases it's a little too quick for the road & what's another 30 horses when you already have 420 under your right foot ! There is also the small matter of £8500+ !! But I have to confess that there is a macho appeal about the powerkit, knowing you have the most powerful Turbo & they do seem to be in demand. You have already spoken to Daz of Piston head who owns & swears by the X-50 & he always seems to top the bruntingthorpe high speed run listing !! And as they say "you can't take it with you" so what the heck tick that box (It's not my money so it's an easy decision).
As you know the Turbo comes very well specified as standard even including PCM 2 as standard now, but here are a few extra's that I have found useful !
Heated seats...great for winter with the roof down & good value.
Cruise Control..must have for all these speed camera's as the Turbo's speed has a mind of it's own otherwise.
A few extra's inside also makes the car feel a little more special.......
The special Turbo alloy gearlever & handbrake look great.
The centre tunnel is rather "plastic" & looks much nicer with leather covering it (not cheap)
the rear tunnel cubby box adds a nice touch in leather with the turbo logo stamped in it (it looks great honest) & the Porsche crest stamped into the seat backs is also cheap & looks great. These extra's lift the cabin a little, I also have silver dials, which look nice with the black interior.
Multi play Cd is also useful & I believe you have to specify this at built otherwise it can't be retro-fitted now !
I am sure there are others, I'll ponder.....in the meantime what goodies have you specified so far ?

most of my 'must-haves' are now standard! (SatNav; Bi-xenon, 18", wind deflector)
I only ever drive my current C4 cab with the hood down but never felt the need for heated seats (have them in the 4x4 but I never use them...).
Cruise control is on the list exactly for the reason you suggest!! [
I have read and re-read the interior trim options and I cannot get excited about them! I thought about carbon cills (present ones are marked and difficult to clean) but seems OTT in a big way.
I have now decided to go for the engine upgrade (as you say: can't take it with you; macho stuff; biggest/fastest etc).
Minor dilemma is which wheels to go for - I like simple, easy-to-clean ones - present car has 18" turbo look and although I like these I would like a change. any views on the Carrera wheels? (even slimmer that the turbo look) - I wnat to get yellow calipers (dont ask!) and need to show those off!
Major Dilemma is around the sports suspension - a 20mm lowering is available but there is a serious health warning about ground clearance in the price list - any thoughts on this one??

With regards to the alloys this is a hard one & all down to personal taste, I had the Carrera's on my last facelift C2 & liked them so much we have put a pair onto the other halfs Boxter. BUT I personally think they look wrong on the turbo, that big wide chunky body doesn't sit well with with thin spoked alloys, you only have to look at the 40th anniversary edition. I think the latest Turbo two wheels are best for the car, they are different to the ones you have on the C4 & they also do the same design with a sloping edge !
I forgot to mention sports seats as a no cost option, I don't have them & wish I had !!
Back to the gear lever & handbrake, plus turbo rear cubby box & crest stamped seats, they do make the car seem more upmarket, take a peak at them at your OPC , you know how much cheaper it is to specify goodies at build. If you decide you want it later It's an arm & a leg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suspension, stick with the standard 10mm lowered set up , unless you are doing a lot of
track days. The 10mm set up is perfect for the road, but this can still be very firm on B roads & that chin spoiler catches everything as it is !!!

thanks for the ongoing suggestions.
I'm off to Porsche Centre Reading tomorrow to ask some questions - that leaves me a few more days before putting pen to paper to finalise the spec (this has to be done by Monday - I'm at club HQ on Sunday so chance for some more discussion...)

Jeff I would suggest you visit your supplying OPC & ask to test drive a GT3 which has the same 30mm lowered set up as you are considering (the TT has 10mm lowered as standard & the extra 20mm takes the car down to 30mm). make sure you take it down a few B roads at speed, once you have put your fillings back in you will know if it's for you !
Don't forget there is also the issue of rigidity, the cab will flex more than a coupe & the firmer set up will only highlight this to the detriment of driving enjoyment. I honestly think you will make a mistake by specifying this set up, but a test drive will give you an idea. Does your current C4 have the 10mm sports supension like the turbo ?
The rigidity issue means that sometimes it is not...?
(Just wondering - would like to know the answer either way!)
