Someone, somewhere, and I can't remember who, is selling Litronic units at £385.00 per side. Everything says to me that this would not be a straight swap for a standard unit as there will be different wiring, ballasts, fuses etc, or would it?

I am happy to go the HIDS4U route but genuine kit does have a certain attraction.

The genuine factory kit is about £2000. There are a number of 3rd party kits on the market that people on here have fitted.

Yes plus 20% Belgium sales tax then converted from Euros gives a shade under £2000 unfortunately [:(]

Ian.

You can buy them for about £200 a set now as the price has dropped.
I have had mine fitted for almost 2 years now.

You could have both, but you will not be able to flash on main beam as the bulb will not illuminate quick enough.

Next question will be what power. Personally like the 6000's as they have a very slight blue tinge that looks good.

Correct on the flash bit, William .. there is a 2-3 second startup for any High Intensity Discharge unit.

6,000, however, does not refer to power but to the colour temperature of the light output .. 6,000 is on the blueish side, but they have to dope the bulbs to get that. The result is less total lumens output, so you don't see so good .. ! [8D]

cheers, Maurice [:D]

Sorry stand corrected, I knew what I meant[:D] Still like the output from the 6000's and it is bright enough for me, but then I eat my carrots[:D]

Do you have a recommendation on the colour temperature Maurice? I assume its lower and into the more yellow spectrum.

I fitted HIDs to my dipped beams and find them to be an excellent "bang for buck" modification. I personally didn't bother with the main beams simply because of the type of use my car gets means that I very rarely use main beam other than for signalling.

In the event that you utilise HIDs for main beam I think the slow light up time is not a major issue. Granted they take 2 to 3 secs to get to full brightness, however, they are sufficiently bright in a few milliseconds to allow for signalling. Personally, I think it just doesn't warrant the cost and time to upgrade the main beams if you are rarely going to use them.
