xenon upgrade - sidelight issue HELP?

HI all,

first time poster.

I recently installed a HI/LO 55w bi-Xenon headlight conversion, absolutely awesome, would recommend it to anyone.

But the problem is this.... when i switch on my sidelights, the headlamps pop up and a low current is sent to the bulbs and also sent to the sidelights in the bumper.
These xenon kits are able to work off the lower voltage and still boost it up to full power, which means turning on the sidelights means you get main headlights

I've had 924s that didnt pop up the lights on sidelights, just the bumper lights came on.
How can i stop my car sending power to the headlights, and from popping them up when on sidelights? I just want the bumper lights to come on and the headlights to stay lowered and unlit.

Any help appreciated.

Perhaps the solution is to make the sidelight modification to your car? Early series two cars always lift their rising lights when the side lights are turned on. Series one cars and later series two cars dont. Im guessing that this will be a problem on the dim-dip cars only, so if you stop the lights lifting (and their lamps operating), then the problem will cease to be. Whether its described on the forum I dont know, but youll certainly be able to find instructions on the TIPEC forum.

thanks simon

so the lights only shine if they pop up, sounds like that solution will solve it
damn early series 2 cars! :) I'll look for the solution you mentioned.

Im a slightly more experienced member than my post count implies, but I honestly cant remember if the 'fix' has been discussed here. Im certain that it has on the TIPEC forum though, so if you ask there them Jim will be able to tell you how to do it. Im not certain that itll work, but I believe that it will: if you see what I mean?

The main pods have a Halogen H4 bulb and a small filament side light, so on switch position 1, which on most cars is sidelights, the main Halogen bulb circuit is not energised so your kit has no current to boost. So the best solution for you is what Simon suggested, which is the mod to disable the pods at switch position 1 so only the bumper mounted sidelights operate. If you do a search on here on the phrase "Switch Position 1" you should get it.

By the way, which kit did you get?

Read this thread to find the mod that stops the popups rising with the switch at Position 1:

Known as the dim dip mod
