Password is "scotland2011"

Enjoy! (Not very Porsche, apologies!)

Could not help singing along! Typical story from North of the border...........

Clinched defeat from the jaws of victory!

Remember Bruce and the spider.

Try, try and try again. Good luck for 2012.

Well done Rick and the team. Great to watch someone I know doing something many of us would want to do, but many more of us wouldn't have the balls to.

Best of luck for the 300 in 2012.

Truly awesome! thanks for sharing. totally living up to your strapline! Please keep us posted I love to read / see this stuff.

Thanks guys!
The big fundraising starts here for 2012... we've got about ÂŁ50k to find but we've got 3M on board who are going to wrap the Flower for us in new colours including the sponsors logos then use her in their adverts... so decent exposure...

And EFG International are going to put her on the back cover of a load of Classic Car Mags which will also include the sponsors logos so that's pretty good exposure as well...

PLUS we've got the camera crew who made the McLaren "How to build a Supercar" film onboard, wanting to make a documentary to follow us this year back to the Salt... pitching the BBC for a commission right now...

PLUS Rich (RS Gulp) has offered to come along and bring his legendary polishing skills with him! So if I can work the logistics... we'll be 2 * RS guys on the Salt this year!

PLUS you are the first guys to watch it and not say I come across as quietly mad as a hatter! Which makes me feel better!

Cheers for the support
Rick

That's great, thanks for posting!

Could you tell us more on what it is like to drive such a machine at that speed? Is it stable? How do you combine throttle and steering?

Best wishes for 2012!

Phil, she moves around a LOT, side to side and the vibrations from the Salt knock her off line a lot too so it's very busy with the steering... the throttle I feather for the gearchanges to try and protect the 'box else it's foot flat... u can't drive her on the throttle, engine is too laggy except she'll get pretty sideways when the turbo comes in in each gear so u need to be ready with a little lift (and a dap of oppo) for that.
Cheers
Rick

Awesome!!!!!

I've been waiting to set a few mins aside to watch this.....

Thanx for sharing Rick!

Thanks Rick, this must keep you busy! Does the aerodynamics take over and keep the car on course from a particular speed, or are you getting thrown of course at all speeds?

Aero doesn't seem to help yet... but only done 270mph.... ;-)
It's a total constant fight... and can get into a scary oscillation...
Note in the film as well that it fires off the course when I throw the chute on one run...

Cheers!

To be honest, it is in a kind of permanent tank slapper above about 400kph... those alu disc front wheels help though as not too much grip... it's more like a tiller, ask nicely the direction you'd like to go...
But when she fired off the course... that was a 1 mile steer by thought process to coax her back on... and don't forget had the 'chute out by then too... so not like we were doing real speed... ;-)

Glad you all enjoyed it... now have to find that cunning corporate sponsor so we can do it all again in 2012!

Cheers
Rick

Boy does that make me want to get back to Bonneville!

With Herr Polishmeister on the team you're guaranteed 300mph [:D]

All the best with the sponsorship Rick.
