Hi
Can anyone tell me what light grey (xp) interior colour turns to after 27 years. My light grey seems to be a light coffee colour.
If this is the case I will need a colour match to repair my drivers leather seat.
Thanks in advance

Light Grey is the worst name ever! The virtually identical colour on series one (924 dash) 944s was Grey-Beige and that's closer, as its a mushroomy colour. The name Light Grey was used again in 968s and that is a light grey colour, which adds to the confusion.

Light Grey was replaced by Linen for 1989 which is a nicer light cream colour. Both get dirty but the more common Light Grey / Grey-Beige is frequently called 'Linen' by mistake by newbies further adding to the confusion.

...and "Linen" is also used for a pale gold body colour (e.g. my '89 model), which used to be called Rauchsilber ("smoke silver") by the Germans even though it is nowhere near silver. And linen is rarely a gold-coloured cloth.
But when I had a respray the painter told me that their 4-axis colour detector matched it with an Audi colour.. So my "Porsche" was designed for Audi, made by Audi at their Neckarsulm factory, and painted an Audi colour.
OMG I'm an Audi driver - perhaps I had better start driving at inconsiderate speeds regardless of other people, road conditions, traffic and/or weather.

Watch out for the understeer..

are you refurbishing both front seats ? if not then you will not be able to get a colour match , you will have to get a restorer who can mix a colour to match your current 27 yr old colour. If you are redoing the seats fully then dynamix dyes in N Ireland are good and will be able to supply origional colour in a restoration kit.

Thanks for the replies
I rang dynamix mix and they offer a colour matching service but the underneath of the seat has a different shade so I could not send a sample.
My next call was to furnitureclinic .co.uk and they have branches in Birmingham and other places who do a colour match service so I will take a drive to the nearest branch.
994man, your knowledge is amazing
Thanks

Hi
Does anyone know the colour codes for the interior of a 944? I am looking to buy one and want to make sure the interior is original
Many thanks
Soli

Useful, but it introduces as many questions as it answers. Id suggest using it along with the interior carpet sections in three 944 PET catalogues.
