Yellow 924/944 in Reading

We were visiting yesterday just behind the station in Reading and I spotted a Y plate 944 - well it could easily be a 924 with a body kit. Y is too old for a 944 isn't it.
Car was tucked up next to a "custom shop" with a very ropey looking sl500 parked opposite.
Porsche looked very sad.
Anyone know it?
