Have you been on a Promotional Tour

In Porsche post your on Page 4 and again 102 and all of 66 & 67 but I think its a bit of a cheek entering your car for a concours just after its been resprayed!!

Gordon,

It's amazing how it all comes together at the same time isn't it?? I did the "Anatomy of a Repaint" bit just after the car was finished at the end of May, but, because of Eynsham primarily, the article got held over until the October issue.

The concours was held on 6th August but the passage of time means there is such a long delay between the event and the report appearing in the magazine it was just coincidental that they should both appear in the same edition.

I was as shocked as you obviously were to find the picture on the contents page. Am I impressed or what???

The concours rules are under discussion at the moment I beleive - maybe resprays will be banned!!!

Regards

Dave

After reading your article on the revamp of your car, I had a "˜lightbulb above the head' moment (i.e. eureka!) and went straight up to TABS to get an estimate on a few bits for my 993. Having had a quote from somewhere else locally (I'm in Silsoe), had a good chat with Tim who gave me a much better price for doing more than the other chap quoted.

So I'll be putting my car into his workshop within the next two weeks to have some corrosion around the rear window sorted (glass out and fix), the trailing edges of the arches redone and the front valance underside sorted. All in all very opportune for me that your car to appeared so prominently!

P.S. And your car looks great, of course!

Hi Dave,

I don´t know what year your car is and how much warranty you still have. But: The corrosion around front and rear windows of the 993 was caused by a too aggressive glue that Porsche used. So, maybe they will pay for it. I got the respray around the windshield (i. e. window out, fix everything, respray, window in) of my 993 100% paid by Porsche. Could be worth to try that.

Regards,

Hartwig

Thanks for the thought, Hacki, but my car is now 11 years old (on 25th October), so out of warranty and I believe the window may have been out before anyway.

Yes, that is correct.

maybe resprays will be banned!!!

I cannot see why a respray should be banned providing the correct paint/colour, etc., are used anymore than re-placing a worn out part with a genuine Porsche part. If you think about it, many of the older Porsches in concours have been restored, taking 356s as an example.

Dave you tart, I gave it up after several issues-it was a competition between myself and Neil Eldred - I think he edged me out

I've noticed he's had a few Porsche jobs lately - the word must be spreading!! They really do do a good job, they're enthusiastic and proud of what they do - and charge a sensible price as well. I have no doubts about recommending them and I suspect you'll be the same.

Dont know what you mean Jeff [:)] Would I shamlessly get pictures of my car in PP for all to see?............ Too right matey. Also got some new SO2s all round in time for the R7 lakes tour and it makes a hell of a difference in handling so might try and get a picture of them in the PP along with the other pictures I submitted for the article which now you mention it I think that my car was in all of them [:D]

Neil Eldred
