YORKSHIRE DALES DRIVE

Having just started to organise events with a maximum 30 people the new ‘Rule of Six’ came in to effect on 14th September at which point three R7 members decided to run a mini three car event in to North Yorkshire. With the intention of this being a trial for future event anyone wishing for a full route description this can be provided upon request.
Since we all came from slightly different areas, we met up in Skipton for coffee at 10.30 with the aim of reaching Tan Hill Inn [the highest pub in England] at 14.00 for lunch. Our route took us via Settle to our first stop at the fantastic Ribblehead Viaduct, a perfect photo opportunity. We continued to Hawes where we had a ‘comfort break’ and purchased cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery. This section of the run was approximately 38miles.
From Hawes we drove through Mallerstang and Nateby to Tan Hill Inn. This section of the journey was a further 28 miles through some fantastic countryside [despite the best efforts of kamikaze sheep]. We arrived at Tan Hill Inn just in time for our lunch reservation. The actual drivetime is two hours, but you must allow extra time for the fantastic views and stops.
After an enjoyable lunch we separated for the journey home, but two cars opted to return through Leyburn, via Reeth. The views over the moors to Reeth were spectacular, but be warned this 22 mile section takes 45 minutes drive time. For those who do not know it, Leyburn is a small but lively market town ideal for a short break for a ‘cuppa’ in one of the lovely, small cafes.

Excellent Peter.

The Settle - Ribblehead - Hawes route is one of my absolute favourite.

The region has run that route many times, and it never disappoints. The last time was 2018, it was a bit different then, with more than just the 3 cars.

Be careful over this brow on the B6255 as you get near to Hawes, going over this at a brisk pace was apparently responsible for causing screaming from one passenger.

I can't possibly imagine who was screaming, brilliant.

So glad you are not sparing the horses [:D]

The screaming wasn't from us. In our car there was just a softly spoken "bloody hell Graham".

Well, I was doing a slightly [?] illegal speed when he passed me, I'm sure the car took off
Some of these 718 drivers are as mad as a bag of frogs
