Yorkshire Region Events 2011

This post contains a list of events planned for this year for both club nights and the in between times.

If you have any suggestions for events or would like to organise something then please get in contact, my

details are at the bottom of this post.

Every one is welcome to attend all the events, although some of the general events may be limited on

numbers. As we approach each event they will be individually advertised on the forum and you may need to

sign up for some of these. If you haven't been to one of the regional events before, please come along and

say hello they are usually relaxed and fun.

Club Nights

These are held on the first Wednesday of each at the Owl Pub & Hotel in Hambelton near Selby from around 8.00pm.

R7 Summer Tour

This summer we would like to try holding our club nights in a couple of different locations in the Region.

Ideally these will be nice country pubs that do decent food and provide a nice drive out for late warm

summer evenings. So suggestions for pubs are welcome.

DIY Morning at RPM
When: Saturday 21st May
Contact: Mark Jessop

RPM Specialist Cars of Knaresborough have offered us morning to get some cars up on ramps and run through

some DIY tasks and get a tour around the workings of our cars. This is an excellent opportunity for the

non mechanically minded amongst us to get to grips with the mechanical side of our cars.

Let me know if you have any specific things that you would like to look at.

Fastlane Show 2011
When: Sunday 15th May
Contact: John Bushby (gonzosquidgy)

Fastlane 2011 is a Supercar Show held in Corbridge, Northumberland at Tynedale Rugby Club, a venue which

BBC's John Inverdale stated to be the most picturesque sporting venue in the country.

The show will have trade stands, club stands and many individual cars. Previous events have seen cars such

as De-Tomaso, Ford GT, Aston Martin GT4, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, TVR, Noble and Corvette to

name but a few.

There will be a Concours Competition to determine the best presented car of the day in classes as well as

overall, as well as awards for the best club stand (not necessarily most cars)

Entrance fees and details to follow.

Yorkshire Region's Annual Concours at Harewood House
When: Sunday 5th June
Contact: Mark Jessop

This is our annual Regional Concours supported by our main sponsor Strasse together with Specialist Cars of

Malton. As well as the concours, both Strasse and Specialist Cars bring a fine selection of cars to look

at and we normally attract over 400 Porsches of all models parked up in front of the main house. There is

also a selection of trade stands and live music. This is a brilliant venue with many attractions and

extensive playgrounds for the children. It should be possible to purchase discounted tickets can be

brought from directly from Harewood in advance via their web site. These tickets are for the gounds/under

stairs only and can be upgraded to the House on the day. Harewood will provide a dedicated entrance lane

to all those who have pre-paid to speed up entry into the grounds.

As usual we are seeking volunteers to help out with setting up, parking on the day and running the

concours. Please let me know if you can spare an hour or two.

Harewood House Fathers Day Classic Car Show
When: Sunday 19th June
Contact: Mark Jessop

This annual event attracts huge numbers of classic cars of all types and has lots of entertainment for all

the family. We have never attended this event as a club before, but this year we would like to get a club

stand together, there is a prize for the best club stand.

This year RPM Specialist Cars of Knaresborough have kindly offered to sponsor our stand at the show and

will be proving tickets for members. Each entrant gets a family ticket for 2 Adults and 3 Children (ages

4-16) for entry to the grounds and so is exceptional value for money. As with our own event early in the

month the weather is normally stunning.

They have a central arena with entertainment and everyone gets to parade their cars round. Last year's

entertainment was a Monster Truck destroying bangers in quite a spectacular way and previous years have

seen a motorbike/quad bike display team.

Summer BBQ Drive
When: TBC Early July
Contact: Mark Jessop

The plan is to have a run out to the coast and take along a set of disposable BBQs and spend a pleasant

sunny afternoon as a group BBQing and enjoying the last of the summer sun. We aim to take ball games,

maybe football, rounders. This makes an ideal family day out.

We are still to identify a suitable location that will allow BBQs, so if you know of any then please let me

know.

Details and dates to be confirmed.

PCGB 50th Anniversary Celebration
When: 2nd - 4th September
Contact: Mark Jessop

2011 is the Golden Jubilee for the Club and this event is the Club's main event starting on the Friday and

Finishing on the Sunday. Currently this is my understanding of what is going to be happening:

Friday: Track day at Coombe, based around short sessions so people can have a go without committing to a

full day. A very cheap way to try the car out on track, and I suspect there might be a lunch or post-track

debrief in a local pub.

Saturday: Silverstone is the main venue. We will have both Porsche Experience and some sort of track

action, with masses of different things happening. A day similar to this year's Boxster and Beyond, for

those who attended or read the write up.

Sunday: Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. We have the whole place to ourselves, and it is truly

massive. The Porsche Experience will be there, with the Cayenne's hooning around in WRC-style.

The place to get full details is Porsche Post

Other Events that are still in planning

Bemish Musem Run.
Several Runs out. - Settle/Buttertubs/Tan Hill
Weekend Away.

Plus all the other club events:
