If it's as good as described then it's cheap. You ought to get you wallet out before a certain German snaps it up!!

We seem to have taken our eye off the Euro ... the £ is f*********** against the Euro despite Greece, Ireland and Portugal and Maybe Spain next .... The Germans are driving the European economy and we are just passengers ...... This has helped to drive up prices together with Hong Kong RHD buyers ..... £60K is only 66K Euro!!!!! The Germans are coming[;)]

I quite like the colour. Don't know why. Must be getting old and into all these pre-impact bumper colours these days.

It's a sort of rubystone with class[:D]

Won't be long till it's over 150,000km though.

I should have bought Ollies at this price/mileage...bit more track focussed too[]

I viewed a tidy amethyst RS Touring (RHD) in Staffordshire IIRC, the day before settling on Cassis Lwt.
Condition as opposed to colour made the decision, and perhaps the corner weighting of the Cassis car caused the, i'm not going home with out this car decision.
I too like the amethyst colour, back then and now.

I tried a nice Amethyst LHD lightweight at Paul Mcleans about 18 months before I bought my car, driving it (and Sue's opinion) made my mind up to go for a RHD car. The Amethyst car was still on Paul's website under Cars Sold last time I looked

IF it's the car I think it is, the purchase and collection was documented in a long letter (with picture) from the owner in 911 & PW some years ago.

It was purchased off Thomas at H &S. I believe it was an ex-dentists car

and most likely described as a "virgin" . . . . .

Whilst it might have been an ex-dentists car, a virgin it was not.
The engine was rebuilt by 9M as the original UK owner buzzed it.
I looked at the car in 2002 and went on to buy a perfect Guards Red example instead . . . .
I believe Paul @ GT Classics bought the car and rectified the issues.
If it's in fine fettle (and I've no reason to suspect otherwise) it's sensible money compared with the yellow example at MR 911 with the same miles.

The car described above is the one I tried at Paul Mc's. The car advertised on PH has had the same owner for 11 years so can't be the same oen.

I have the car you are referring to and it is not the one for sale on Pistonheads, although it looks very similar (except for grey seat inserts and correct chin spoiler)!

I bought it from Paul knowing it had recently had a rebuild at 9M. The rebuild wasn't great. I had the engine rebuilt by Russell Lewis, along with the gearbox and now it runs absolutely beautifully - my favourite car :)

Doing the right thing keeping it, out of interest was the 9M rebuild differing from the original 3,6 spec was it with Motec or anything else or just a standard rebuild?

No it was just a standard 3.6, no Motec. It ran ok at first, but seemed to go off the boil quite quickly and then it dropped a distributor belt (luckily spotted immediately), so took the opportunity to have it rebuilt. Significant difference when I got it back.

I had a similar experience with my car that had a fortune spent on engine work there and very very soon after purchase needed a proper rebuild again.

The previous owner lived in Swansea ? buzzed the engine and didn't tell his other half about the large repair bill IIRC . . . .
Subsequently he was so afraid of buzzing it again he decided it was best to sell it ?

Issues after a 9M engine rebuild ? well, well, well, who'd have thought it . . . .

Glad to hear all's running well now and the engine issues didn't ruin your ownership experience.
