Hi welcome to the forum and 944 ownership you'll love it.

I'm currently still on my first 944 I got it a year ago when I was 18 and I've loved it ever since can't ever imagine owning any other car now. Although my insurance was 4x[] what you're paying at the moment.

Hi and welcome to the world of Porsche ownership!

This is the forum for you and is a great source of information and help.

Cheers!

I bought my first porsche for the scumball3000 rally last april, we did over 2300 miles in 4 days, paid less than £500 for the car, had a service and £150 worth of work for the mot, put oil in it and new plugs then drove it. in stuttgart the car was checked by their police with strict instructions to find fault. they couldnt! the car didnt miss a beat, and still now it sits on the end of my street, looking a little sorry for itself, I put a battery on it 2 weeks ago and it started on the key!

I have just recently purchased an immaculate 1988 944s, and im over the moon with it, purchased after my experience with our scumball car.

I will get some pics up if anyone has any interest in seeing it?

Black is a great colour. Welcome to Porsche ownership, great to see young people being introduced to the marque with such a great model! Put some pics up!

I am deeply impressed, both by your commitment to Porsche ownership and the depth of your pockets re insurance at such a young age. Back in 1994 when I was 18 I had a 1988 1.6 Cavalier which ironically was quite like my S2 now, in that it was a bit lazy to start and showed some signs of rust round the rear arches.[;)]

It's taken me until now to get a Porsche, but it's my second car, and one day I'd like to think that I will swap them both for a Cayman S. Or a Z4M Coupe. Some brand faith one way or the other, whatever.

Hey dude welcome to the forum, i had my first 944 last sept, had a few problems but nothing bad until 3rd of this month when she burst into flames whilst i was driving. Other than that she was a dream, it was my 1st car at 23 cost me 2250 to buy and 1800 to insure! The insurers have just given me 3500 for it.

Bought my first 944 at the tender age of 54 (last year), after a succession of many other makes and types and I think it's great fun. Drives superbly, more smiles per pound than anything I have ever bought (run a close 2nd by a Scimitar GTE). Good to work on as well and no devaluation.[:)]

I don't think I've ever noticed this although I think I spend too much time driving along country lanes.

Thats scary close, are we related? I was 18 in 1992 and drove a blue 1988 1.6 Cavalier including the said rust, which was actually my dads car but he never drove it. The first car I owned was an 85 mini which cost me the princely sum of 600 quids worth of student loan bought at age 20. At 22 I got a Saab 900 turbo 16.

I would have loved to have had a Porsche at 20. I had to wait until 25/26 to get mine, and on 20 grand a year graduate income it was a struggle running the thing in the first couple of years.

I'm afraid my past car history had been pretty diabolicle. If I was ever to become famous and found myself on Top Gear JC would have a field day with me. I could never afford a decent car due to the rediculous cost of insurance, so my 944 is my first decent car with credability. Having said that when it comes to cars it's not how good they are it's what you do in them and i've had some great times in all my cars - been all over the place on lads weekends away, and since they have been old bangers i've had to learn about motor mechanics the hard way. In fact the 944 has been the most reliable and dependable car i've ever had.

Hi,
Welcome to the world of Porsche owenership..Add another one to the list of youngsters. Got mine a few months ago when I was 23.. Its a 91turbo. Flirted with the idea of one when I was a student, test drove a red 86turbo, was running an alfa33 cloverleaf at the time (probably cost more to run than a 44 would) but had to wait a few years till I was earning sufficient to pick one up and insure it. Cant think of what else I would have bought that would offer similar performance for the money. Genuinely awesome car. Next stop would have to be a 993turbo..

Cheers
Charlie

Just been doing some research and it appears it's £350 cheaper insurance for me for a 964 C2 or a '90 944 turbo how very odd it definatly seems more likely I might get one now.
