Saw a post on the other web site I visit ..... Traffic policeman booked last Sunday on the A9 at Daviot doing 136 mph in his Subaru Impreza by a mobile camera unit He has been relieved of all traffic duties and could face a jail sentence .so watch your speed this weekend on the A9.

Personally I dont think travelling fast on the A9 is a sin, at least not in good conditions, but the double standards of many traffic policemen disgusts me. They treat you like a mass rapist if they bust you, yet as this case shows they believe themselves above the law when it comes to speeding. Their usual line is that they have been taught to drive fast ... big deal I say. Most of us here have been driving fast for years and are not amateurs, but that holds no water to these guys.

Don't get me wrong, I detest the draconian speed limits in this country, and the odious "big brother" tactics being used to control our behaviour ... BUT ... like it or lump it it is the law, and the law applies to policemen too. [:mad:]

I think the ramifications of his actions will be felt waaaay further than any promotion prospects.
