Hi i have had a very bad weekend!

I have got my car in a paint shop to have a turbo S front spoiler fitted and the front bumper banished of all stone chips. I got a call Saturday to say they have drpped a metal pole (scafold pole) on the rear wheel arch. On inspection i nearly cried but soon turned to rage! They say it will be repaired to perfection.

My question is what would be your move with this situation.

Sorry to here of this - I too would be absolutely livid. Is it being repaired by an Official Porsche Approved Body shop? If so you should get an excellent job done that will be warranted for the life of the car.
That said I had a lousy experience many years ago at an approved body shop in Bournemouth, but that's another long and protracted story.
If not Porsche Approved then I would be very wary indeed.
Regards,

I would insist on the repair being done at a Porsche approved shop, also take some picture for your records.

Its not Porsche approved, but the guy who is doing the job is insurance approved and is by far the best painter i know. If the repair is less than perfect i will reject it. I suppose i have to give him the benefit of the dought, and let him put his wrong doings right.

It will then be inspected by Porsche. This i think is all i can do.

Bob,

Sounds like you don't have much choice, I would however, definitely go for the before and after photo's (to show any future purchaser the extent of the damage and to prove wasn't a major job) plus I would ask your bodyshop what he intends to do to make up for the fact that the rear wing will now have been repaired - put the ball in his court, it was after all his fault, I would expect some goodwill gesture - at least not being charged for the original work or a major discount!

Finally I would check the work yourself - or get a really good indie to check it, or better still the owner of another indie bodyshop, on a recent OPC repair to my 993 (delivery guy reversed into front wing :-( ) the car had to go back twice for detailing points, which are the critical pointers to bodywork when anyone who knows what they are doing checks it out in the future.

Sound advice there mate, already got the piccies on my phone and camara. I will certainly be wanting a dicount too.

It has been pointed out that that the said wing has already had a key scratch repaired, and was never picked up by Porsche when i bought the car. Just shows you never know.

Why not tell the repairer that he must arrange for the repairs caused by his negligence to be inspected and passed by a Porsche approved body shop at his expense.

I would expect a very substantial discount henceforth from him - but get it in all writing!!!!!!!

And don't forget to download the pictures from your camera asap - and get the photos printed; again at his expense.
