Ok guys hands up I am an air-cooled nut and my P&J is tucked up in the garage but have always liked the 944 in particular the S2 and Turbo[;)]

I am considering an S2 as a daily driver in about three months time so thought I would take an early look at a couple around 3 "" 3.5k which sadly required a lot of work. I an not looking for perfection, have I been unlucky or do I need to look at something at 4 -5k.

I know it's no guarantee and would have a PPI, buy on condition etc. If I was currently in the market, the enclosed tick most of my boxes, any thoughts?

looks like the twin to my s2 very nice..i would spend £5000..to £5500 for a good one with service history...70 to 90 thousand miles..black or grey leather..

Looks and sounds right in a very nice colour, check the sills for rust and the bottom of the front wings, the camshaft drive is via one cam only then drive is transmitted to the other cam via a hydrualic (engine oil pressure) tensioner the chain which drives the "slave" cam passes over a nylon pad which wears and introduces slack in the chain this can damage the camshaft drive teeth and/ or jump sprockets if this work has not been done get it done should you buy !!
It is not a service item and it it is not a big job you could source the nylon slipper pad seperately a while ago.
The S2 has loads of torque and is a brilliant everyday user and surprisingly economical.

Though a good turbo will blow the doors off it [:D]

looks a nice one - no interior shots which is a bit odd, and I don't think blue was a limited run .......

HI, I owned a turbo for 16 years and it never missed a beat, wish I kept it - but had no space, still I wanted to own a later car Boxster S for my early retirement.
Personally unless you were very lucky to find a turbo in great condition and price - I would go for an S2 for around £5k with full history, there is no better car for that money anywhere and a fantastic everyday car to own with great torque make them easier cars to own for daily use- if brought with usually care and attention /inspection, you will not be disapointed with running costs or insurance, preventive maintenance helps keep costs down, load of people to help and speicalists.
Good Luck.

It certainly looks the part in those pics and I'd be happier spending a little more on a good car ~ you don't have to spend a lot more and assuming you keep it good you'll recoup the extra when you sell.

Usual warnings about rust (as above), cam chain / cam sprocket condition, callipers and clutch.

Linen leather marks easily and shows its age far more than black.
