My average is about 23 mpg, about 330 miles from 65litres (I don't like doing more than 10miles on a red light). Until a bit of electrical work earlier in the year (dizzies, assorted probes and a new battery) it was about 21, 300 miles on a tank. On runs through the Welsh mountains it drops down below 10, but that's the whole point of having a 993

I much preferred my 3.2 fuel filler where it didn't back up and I could get 77 litres in (probably more but I never let it run dry), you could fill the tank right to the cap. You probably can on a 993 but you'd need to spoon it in!

That's mostly motorway commuting, so a bit of stop/start but not that much.

Drivers of other cars always seem surprised I get that much, the 4x4 brigade usually look a bit sick [:)]

How does that compare to other people's here? Just interested

I guess my mileage is averaging about 25 mpg - I get nearly 30 mpg on a motorway run - I tend to stick to the limit on long runs as I've usually got the wife on board and she is a local magistrate !!

I'm not very good at remembering to write down the mileage when I fill up, but I've been trying a bit harder recently on a few long motorway trips.

At my "standard" cruise speed on motorway (plus some non-motorway 30 mph around towns for maybe 50 miles or so) I get 22 mpg. Hint - the rev counter is on same RPM as the engine size. Actually I find I'm using the rev counter for speed now I'm used to it because the speedo's a bit hidden at motorway speeds.

Wow - you guys must be driving carefully. Either that or I have a heavy right foot! I was averaging 17-18mpg before my last service. I had dizzy caps, rotor arms and HT leads changed and now seem to get 19-20mpg. Admitedly this is around town. I have got just over 30mpg on a straight run from Northampton to Sheffiled before, but that was cruising at 80mph virtually all the way with minimal traffic.

I managed 29.9mpg going from Kent to Ragley Hall and back according to the fuel computer. Never really measured it locally, I am lucky to live where I have open roads to drive on and would guess about 23-25mpg average.

Out of interest sidned, who changed your HT Leads as I have bought some to change mine but do not fancy tackling the job ?

We got 360 miles from the tank with a little bit left over on a fast run back from Northumberland last week. Quite impressed with that.

It's rare these days that I use a whole tank on town driving - but if I did, I'd be too scared to do the calculation!

Just done Reading to Plymouth and back....... managed 365 out of a tank was pretty impressed...and that was after some fun and games on the A303...A30............

14mpg worst, which included a track day.

21mpg average, usually hooning around country lanes and A roads

27mpg on the way to Spa grand prix last weekend, not hanging about either!

On my regular trips to the Ring i get 400miles to a tank, and thats at 80-100mph on the Belgium/German motorways....Fantastic i think.

Don't care about mpg in the 993, it's the smiles per gallon that matter more! [:D]

Absolutely!

Although the maths helps me justify to GF why I always take the 993 rather than the RAV4 on long motorway journeys when she'd prefer a car where she can hang up her dresses[:D]

It was part of the major service performed by ProMAX near Milton Keynes. This is the first time I have used this company, and their service was great. I have no hestiation in recommendting them.

BTW - my mileage calculations all came from the OBC, so I don't know how accurate that is!

local runs ~10 miles :- 16-17mpg
longer runs ~30 miles :- 22-23mpg
best achieved on a journey 26mpg
worst (short local runs) 12mpg

Took my 993 from Doncaster to Watford,Back to Doncaster,to Warrington and back to Doncaster.

Brimmed the tank in town before setting off,410 mile.Drove at 70 to 80 most of the time, just a stint on the M1 at night and had a play.

Red light came on as i got near home.

Think that was good.I was careful though.

Dont want to overtake the flies and cleam them off.

I have the trip computer on my '95 993 and mostly motorway driving shows between 25-27mpg ... (on a 100,000 mile car )

I used to get 30 mpg on a run and 22 - 25 mpg on the commute out of my 96 C2 when I had it. The turbo is also very good on the motorway runs and can manage 27 - 28 mpg if you can keep it below 80 mph, which is quite difficult! Normally, it is about 25 - 26 mpg on my regular run from Doncaster to Petersfield which is a 440 miles return trip.
