[FONT=arial"]Dear Melvin,
Unfortunately I have bad news concerning the Porsche Zandvoort Days 2008:
ANNOUNCEMENT Much to our regret we are forced to announce that the Porsche Zandvoort Days 2008 cannot take place.
There has been extensive deliberation with all of the parties involved about the possibilities for a program that would be acceptable for the drivers, as well as the visitors and the organization.
This turned out to be impossible, because of the rigid noise restrictions imposed by the government. This is based on the law for environmental conservation.
Only a very few days a year CircuitPark Zandvoort is allowed to produce more noise than normal. These days are already filled with events like the DTM. The rest of the year has a restriction of the amount of noise produced per day, no matter what activity and without distinction of workdays and weekends. This means that the more noise is produced per car, less laps can be driven per day.
Considering the level of noise made by most Porsches, we could only offer the participants three sessions of driving per category, twenty minutes each. In other words one hour of driving per day, per category, with a restriction of thirty cars per session.
This way it is impossible for the organisation to organize an event with a satisfactory price/quality ratio.
We sincerely trust that you will understand the fact that the organisation has had to decide to cancel the Porsche Zandvoort Days 2008
