Zenons, dazzle problem

Does anyone else have trouble with other motorists getting the hump over dazzle with the Zenons. It seems to vary with mine some times getting the flashing brigade from on coming traffic. However this morning had a guy in a MX5 who I was following indicate to pull over then gave me a full beam jobby when I overtook him. As they are self leveling is there much you can do about it? They don't appear to be to high a setting compared to other cars I have driven but are b**dy bright. [8D]
 
Which car is it?

I have a 2008 C4S with Xenons and they are bright but I very rarely get flashed or seem to wind up other road users. I was passed on the M4 by a Gen 2 car and his seemed even brighter though!
 
I think the issue is more the firm suspension and the pitching over undulations in the road surface - the self levelling just can't keep up.

The worst scenario is coming over a crest where you might be level but the oncoming traffic is below you and basically gets it full bore.

I've only been flashed once in 4 years of using a HID kit in normal headlamps, where i have no self levelling. I'd double check your beam alignment to avoid the frustration.
 
I can understand it from someone in an MX5 - they're not much above surface of the road level anyway! I feel that my lights are just on the borderline when dipped and, as has been mentioned, coming over the brow of a hill or on a bumpy road does give the one in front or opposite a brief full blast.
 
The lights are self leveling but are also manually adjustable.
I had the exactly the same issue on my previous car and in the end I put it into the OPC who adjusted them down for me (at no cost)
I even thought they lit the tree rather too well [;)]

Its an allen key through from the boot area so you can do it yourself with them pointed at a wall whilst the car is on a flat level.

When new mine dazzled oncoming traffic all the time. Manually adjusted them down a bit (dead easy) then no more grief.
 
Never had a problem on my 997.1, wait to see on the 997.2 which is going to be fitted with the dynamic lights, which I hope are not like the 'intelligent' (note the inverted commas) zenon lighting system I have on my Mercedes E-Class.. This system integrates the fog lights as well, and manages to dazzle both oncomming traffic, and the cars in front of you. I am constantly been told I have left my front fogs on..!! [:mad:]
 
I get flashed a lot but live in the bit of Essex near London, where everyone is very tollerant of other road users[:mad:][:mad:][:mad:]

As previously said, its cresting a hill or hitting a bump that gets others square on. Quite often they flash back.

Recently though I get people regualrly flashing me going along the road (so I had the OPC check mine) - I think partly because the colour illuminates more and the human eye more sensitive to its frequencies it appears much brighter and is more prone to dazzle.

Round here there are lots of BMW/Mercs and 4x4 who also have HID's so rather ironically they give the full flash back? Given their ride high to mine its normally me getting the full eyeful but I don't flash them. Ah well[&o]
 
Cheers all of you some good tips, as for bumps I live in West Yorkshire (Kirklees) and pot holes sunken drains ruts and small rivers are a plenty on our what we loosely call roads. [:D]

Get your point about MX5s they are a bit low. Reluctant to lower the beam as have got used to them lighting up the council suspension breaking traps.
 
911's bob and this makes them susceptable to dazzling oncoming traffic.

I'm with Robert Cox on the E Class cornering fog lights - a downright pain, I have searched the internet for how to turn them off without success - shame as it's the only flaw I can find on mine which is a perfect car for everyday use.

997 + E320CDI is a great combination because each car enhances the other as you swap between them.
