Zunsport Grilles...

Hi All,

Attached are pictures taken today with my phone after grilles were fitted by Porsche Centre Cambridge.
Or at least I hope they are......

They removed ALL existing plastic ones, including the centre piece which I have retained should I ever require to return it to it's original standard spec for resale or warranty purposes!

I must say that I am very pleased with the quality of the grilles, the only criticism (constructive, of course) is that both the side grilles do stand a little proud of the bumper in the top left & right hand corners when looking at them 'head on'.

I am sure that this is in part due to the curvature of the bumper at these points & the 'flat' design of the grilles.

However, I am positive that they will offer a very high degree of protection that the 'originals' could not...
I look forward to any response.

Regards

Paul (kasspa)

Not sure they have been fitted correctly. They are designed to fit slightly recessed like on my 997 (see link)

Hi Geoff,

Zunsport would have fitted them free but only cut out existing grilles in order to push fit their design into place in the lugs present in bumper.....

I'll see what folk say upon seeing them & decide if any improvements can be made, perhaps even a trip to Zunsport too!

Paul

Um, there aren't any lugs on the bumper. The original plastic items are held in place with a sort of panel clip. I'd ask PC Cambridge how they have secured them. It looks like the same panel clip could be used for the ZS items. If so, you could play about with how much they protude (or not) from the bumper.

Hi Paul

any further news on these
have you managed to get them to sit better
I have to confess the idea of them going in from the front of th pudid put me off a little prefering the more robust take the pu off and then fit from behind
but then whilst hovering out the the side rads through the vents not very successfully realised that is actually quite a clever idea
How much did they cost and did you get the special july discount?

Hi Richard,

No not yet made them sit better but not tried too hard as I dont want to damage paintwork on PU....

I will fwd emails from Zunsport if I haven't deleted them!

Cost was £195 including discount, compared to design911's £140 for moulded mesh I think they are excellent value despite the problem with the fit....

OPC did remove PU to salvage existing grilles.
Zunsport would have fitted them free but just cut out side grilles to remove them.

I will be at Silverstone Classic on both sat & sun, can be viewed there if you're going!

Hi Paul

thanks for the speedy reply.Sadly I am off to RIAT at Fairford, hehe maybe they,ll let me run up and down the runway
Price seems very reasonable
How easy is it to remove them for the purposes of cleaning out the side rads by hover

Richard

Richard,

Not thought too much about taking them out as I'm hoping most of the 'muck' will be prevented from getting in there in the first place.....

The DIY process of fitting them yourself was a simple operation but how much prising to get them out again without damaging paintwork will probably be a risk.... or it's bumper off, I guess!

Paul

Saw them on your car at Silverstone this weekend Paul. Look great and stops stones etc getting into the radiators. I'm going to get some fitted.

Thanks Neil,

They certainly were a talking point & I'm sure they will give much better protection to the elements etc,

Regards

Paul

Drivers side radiator started smoking and smelling of coolant yesterday, so I ordered the Zunsports using the discount code you provided. Have gone for black mesh. Will post some photos once complete...

I have had black grills fitted inside the PU with the existing bits still in place. Very discrete, them not me, and less than £150. Done at JAZ Porsche in Wembley. Pictures available if required.

Yes please (to pictures that is)!
They are a good bunch of people and that's a great price.

the mesh I had fitted was plasterer's mesh sprayed to colour then cut and glued in double protection and keeping the original
look of the PU

Sorry to hear about your radiator Neil....
Haven't managed to get up to Zunsport yet but grilles have already prevented debris from entering the vulnerable area & definately NO sign of temperature increase on gauge.

As you can see by the posts, not all positive comments but you can't please ALL of the people ALL of the time!

Paul

Well they're on, and I must say I'm very pleased with them!! :)

The bad news was that two of the radiators had cracks, so I didn't get any change from a grand!
