Mine fitted snugly with only a little persuasion/bending

Would that be the car or the grill bending?[;)]

Mine are a shocking fit also. I had to use tie wraps to pull them back enough as there was a huge gap otherwise. Well made but bad fit and securing design
Zunsport Grills on a Cayman R
Hi
I have successfully fitted the centre grill on my Cayman, but am struggling to get a decent fit on the two side grills on the Cayman R. The main problem is when fitted, the side grills are not even close to the car along the top edge of the grill. Is it the product, or is it me? Has anyone else had problems fitting these side grills? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you all for your help. It sounds like they need to be bent to fit? I did speak to their technical department who said that they will click into place as you tighten the screw!

I don't think that is quite right.

It may be worth taking a trip to Zunsport they fitted mine for a nominal fee it took them 1/2 hour and it is a very good fit.

I had heard a number of people on here had found fitting difficult so maybe worth a call.

I fitted the full front set including the centre grille, the centre grille actually fits into two holes which need to be drilled to the supplied template and which I didn't find particularly good but then it is flexed to locate into them and is a good fit with no rattles or movement, I did have to tweak the bend in one of the outer grilles to get it to sit correctly before fitting the screw. The two hooks on both outer grilles needed to be flexed to hook into place correctly.

Following this everything was a good fit, having already made a set for my 987.1 I had experience of making the flat grille curve to the correct fit for my 987.2.

I had bought those grills for my Cayman S Sport limited edition they were ok but protruded a little not as flush as I would have liked even after slight bending very heavy as well for what they are.

Very reluctant to put them on my CR would much prefer a company to produce a mesh plastic set.

I know people make them but not a Diy expert.

Cliff.

For my Gen1 I made a pair for the outer intakes using black diamond pattern aluminium mesh then used U section rubber around the edges to protect the paintwork and give a finished appearance, from reports they are still doing good service on a member's car in Scotland, if you want to use plastic mesh then I would suggest fitting them behind the bars and using something to support them from behind since plastic mesh may flex back under airflow.

On my Boxster race car I put aluminium mesh from behind the PU secured with tie wraps and tie wrap mounts bonded with epoxy

This way could be used on road cars too.

I have done the same as Andy on my road car (used epoxy + small screws but not tie wraps), very simple to do and quite satisfying too.

just fitted zunsport grilles.

a little time consuming but they do look good.

you do have to bend them to make them fit.just a small amount at a time until you get desired effect.

Hi Kevan

Just a quick note to say many thanks for fitting the Zunsport side grills on my Cayman R this afternoon.

Left to my own devices, I doubt that I would have achieved a satisfactory result!

My car is looking much better because of the grills being fitted properly.

One thing about home-made grilles, especially plastic ones. You need to be confident they will stop a good sized stone thrown up by a truck in front. Stopping leaves is all very nice, but stopping stones is key. The Zunsport grilles might be fiddly to fit, but they are solid.

Regards,

Alan
