Zymol versus Porsche Tequipment Hardwax

I've now tried both waxes. Zymol is much better *but* takes 3-4 times longer to apply. It also produces far more powder residue.

The end result is probably worth it.

It also produces far more powder residue.
Hi Tarik
Not sure which Zymol product you have been using, but I have used Zymol's Carbon and Titanium ranges for about 5 years now and have never had any powder residue on my cars. Indeed it is so good that I use it on all the plastic areas to give that extra lustre and it does not mark the plastic like Auoto Glym does.
Are you sure you are using genuine Zymol?
Cheers,

I agree with Peter, I have been using it for the last couple of years and never had a problem with powder residue, are you leaving it on too long before polishing it off?

I am also a big fan of applying it by hand, I find it easier and quicker than using cloths, I love the smell which lingers on the skin and find it a rather pleasing experience gently smoothing it over the curves. You can even practise on the wife, or should that be the other way around?

It says Zymol Cleaner Wax - from Halfords. Is this something different to what you guys are using?

It's cyan in colour and smells like nice food!

Haven't seen that one. The types I use are coloured blue and greyish blue and they both smell like coconut.
Is yours a liquid or hard wax base?

Peter, it's a cyan blue liquid. About 12 quid from Halfords. As I said before, awesome results but hard work! I had to vacuum the powder residue from the front and rear boot gutters. That stuff gets everywhere!

Seems like Zymol are hitting the mass market with a cheaper product that may well contain chalk - aka Auto Glym. It could do them damage.
The Zymol I refer too, as would most other PCGB members I would suggest, is the tub of wax (in a clear plastic tub about 3.5" round) that cost upwards of £50 a tub.
Some of the more expensive mixes are in the hundreds of £'s!!!
It may sound expensive, but you don't need much and usually the tub could last for about 3 years if you wax your car about 4 times a year "" mine lasts even longer!
Its sold at most car shows and I think it is the best product of its kind that I have used in 35+ years of motoring! Now I'm showing my age!
Cheers,
Peter

The "Cleaner Wax" is a mass-market product.
It is slightly abrasive, but is good at removing any slight blemishes that HD cleanse cannot remove.

I would use the cleaner wax on any problem areas, then HD cleanse, then the real stuff!

There are several distributors in the UK (many advertise in Porsche Post, 911 & Porsche world, GT Porsche).
www.zymol.co.uk is one of them, but the only one who's website I can recall!

They all sell and demonstrate at car club shows through the year.

If you search for Zymol on this forum, you should find enough reading material to keep you busy for a long while!

I am based in North Yorkshire and get mine from Specialist Cars of Malton, if you speak to Glynn there he will give you all the detailed info and even demo it in your car if you can get to him. They are in Malton, their web site is www.specialistcarsltd.co.uk and will no doubt do postal supply. I understand they were the first people in the Uk to be accredited as an approved supplier for Zymol with the glorious membership Number of 001! The HD-Cleanse is also great stuff to use and gives a glass like finish and smells like chocolate!!

The cleaner wax I think you will find on the bottle is manufactured in Skelmersdale, I think that there is a Turtle Wax factory in Skelmersdale also, coincidence? K300 Wax would give better results than the cleaner wax and without the white residues.
