Zymol

After being very confused by the whole massively extensive Zymol product range, I've narrowed the most suitable choice down to 2 wax products but am not sure which one would give the best results. I wondered if anyone here has had much experiance in this and would be able to advise. The two products are:-

Rouge wax 37% Carnuba wax, intended for non-metallic red cars £56 or $56
Glasur Glaze 56% Carnuba wax and specificlly designed for Porsche paint £95 or $95

On the face of it the Rouge wax seems the obvious choice but the Glasur Glaze is supposed to be very good due to the higher Carnuba content but I suspect that it might be really designed for modern Porsche finishes. I have a mate in the states who can buy it for me and send it over so I can save by buying at the $ price.

Alternatively if anyone has used another product that I might have overlooked then please feel free to recommend.

Rouge wax might help to fill in any stone chips. Neither wax has any cleanign agents, so you'll have to clay and HDCleanse first to remove any tar spots, tree sap, or fading.

Unless you really want the Rouge wax i'd say go with either Carbon, or Ital (more oil content so will reduce and pinking). Can't say i've been that impressed with Glasur
 
I have the Titanium wax which is mid-priced in their range, but is especially good because it can be applied by hand and lasts for ages. Six months between waxing, and after 3 years on both cars I still have a 1/3 of a pot left.

I would think the Rouge would be perfect for your car and tend to think the Glasur is aimed at people who are happy to pay a premium for anything associated with the Porsche brand (it does have a higher Carnuaba content tho [:)])
 
Or you could have the guys from Permagard give it the treatment - I am very satisfied with what they've done for my Cayman. Now that the 2.7 RS is back from its annual derust and touch up, I'm having that done as well.

Wow, Ital is a bit pricey at £360 a tub but Titanium seems a good alternative as it's formulated for off-road cars or cars that do alot of high motorway milage or track days so is a bit tougher and so has more resistance to stone chips. Shame they dont do a Rouge Titanium wax.

I was considering getting someone to do it for me but i've been advised that the wax wont stop my Guards Red from turning to Guards Pink but just slow it down a bit, so the only way to keep my colour is to polish the car regularly which means more frequent application of wax than you might normally apply so I think it'll be more cost effective to do it myself.
 
I use p21s wax on my guards red 944 after posting a similar question on the concours boards a while ago. Its easy to put on and buff off and leaves a fab finish. Costs less the Zymol too.

Well i had to check both vertar and zdouk.com to verify that price - when i used to buy it twas the same price as Titanium - Zymol claim its an improved version, but not 5 fold !! [&:]


As for the fading, its not wax that'll stop the fading but mainly the oils in the cleaner or polish (HD Cleanse). P21S is a good alternative, works just as well as the lower priced Zymol products and is far cheaper.
