Front Indicator- not working any advice

I have a 996 C2, my nearside front indicator has stopped working, checked and change bulb no difference and all connections in headlight unit, swapped bulb holder over from offside still not working, I think perhaps its a earthing problem, not sure what to try next any advice would be helpful.

Did you check the connector in the front wing? They can come loose in the mounting plate, causing a bad connection to the headlight unit.

Hi Richard, Checked connections this morning all good, the wires are moulded into back of connector block, made sure none loose and connection terminal were all sitting fine, its a bit of a mystery, all other lights in unit working fine, sidelights, headlights etc, I think it must be a connection problem but where. Which model and year 996 do you have? If you send me an email with the details, I'll send you a wiring diagram which shows the pin numbers on the connector plug. If you have a multimeter you could check that you are getting a feed to the appropriate pin on the connector, and do a continuity check between there and the bulb connector.

Hi Richard,

Carrera 996 C2 2002, took it to friends garage, he put a multimeter on the terminal block and it was going from 1v to 5v which imagine is the flasher operating, but we had no wiring diagram to be sure on right terminal, thinking it may be the actual headlight unit faulty, so perhaps need to find someone with same model and try their light unit or friendly garage.

You should get 12v on/off the indicator terminal. If it is only 5v, then it sounds like a wiring fault. The 12v on/off supply to the headlight unit comes from the indicator stalk. The wire goes through a connector block in the front compartment, so it might be a bad connection there.

Depending on the multimeter, it might be that it only reached a 5v reading before the power switched off, which would mean your thought that it is an internal headlight problem most likely.

I am assuming the left rear indicator is working, otherwise it would point to the indicator stalk on the steering column.
