Diy advise required drivers window

Hi guys,
My drivers door window started making a grinding noise last night. I would try to close the window and when it was nearly up it would suddenly go down! I want to strip it down and see what the problem is but am unsure because of the airbag!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The probem will almost certainly be a frayed/broken cable in the window regulator - it is very common.

If you disconnect the airbag with the battery connected, you will get an airbag light which will need resetting with a Porsche tester. So disconnect the battery a few minutes before you start work, and don't reconnect it until the airbag is plugged back in.

To stop the alarm siren going off when you disconnect the battery, switch the ignition on, then switch it off, but leave the key in. Then disconnect the battery - negative terminal.

Thanks Richard.

Any tips on getting the door panel off? Hidden screws etc. I can only find 1 screw behind the door handle!

See here: http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutorials/article/31-door-panel-removal-install-instructions/

These are taken from the workshop manual. There is also a hidden plastic screw in the door pocket, not shown on the instructions.
