ABS AND PSM WARNING LIGHT

Hi, problem with the PSM and ABS warning light, when i hit 75 mph the spoiler comes up and the 2 lights come on. When i stop the car and restart both lights stay off.
If i put the spoiler up with the switch both lights will come on.
I have change the air mass flow sensor, and also the brake switch, but still have the problem.

Any ideas what the problem could be.
Many Thanks
Wol

Check your spoiler rams aren't leaking and that your spoiler is fully extending when you manually extend. If they are ok maybe the spoiler sensors are playing up.

Hi Gordan.
Thanks for your reply. Cant see and leakage from the rams, and looks to me that the spoiler full extend. I will check out the spoiler sensors.
Thanks

Have you considered the ABS reluctor rings may be the problem. I had a similar problem and had to replace the reluctor ring on rear, £15 part, driveshaft off, remove rusty ring, clean and then heat shrink new ring and replace drive shaft. Problem number one, getting the retaining nut off (scaffolding pole and big socket.....)

Just a thought and may be way off.

Cheers

Hi Garry thanks for your reply.
Did your lights come on when it was parked and you raised the spoiler manually?
Cheers Col

Hi Col,

Sorry, can remember, but what happens is the ABS reluctor ring becomes detached from the driveshaft/corroded/disintigrated and starts to not spin, keep spinning, which confuses the ABS and engine management systems (pulses from the ABS/PSM are used in various ways), it finally exhibited an ABS fault on durametrics which when inspecting I could see the rusty ring was loose. (I bought replacements online, 2 just in case as were only £15 each). It was some years ago and cant quite remember the exact sequence/error/symptoms, Sorry

Big health warning on this, as cant remember the detail and may be sending you up the garden path.

Cheers
Garry
